Position Summary:

MBS is seeking a highly motivated O&M Field Engineer to join our growing team supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of utility- and distributed generation-scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets. This role serves as a technical field resource for troubleshooting, system optimization, field testing, quality oversight, and execution of corrective and preventive maintenance activities across the portfolio.

The ideal candidate combines strong electrical and controls knowledge with hands-on field experience and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

· Serve as a regional technical resource and escalation point for complex electrical, inverter, BESS, SCADA, and power systems issues across operational sites

· Assist in outage response coordination, including event diagnostics, triage, and safe energization or isolation procedures

· Train, coach, and mentor field technicians and site leads on troubleshooting techniques, equipment operation, diagnostic tools, and best practices for safe and efficient system maintenance

· Lead or assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for critical equipment failures or recurring faults, and work cross-functionally to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence

· Contribute to the development of field SOPs, technical bulletins, and MOP documentation

· Perform field audits and technical oversight of vendor or contractor work, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with contract scope

· Assist our regional managers in technical onboarding of new sites

· Travel regularly to utility and DG solar + BESS sites within assigned region (overnight travel required)

Qualifications:

Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or related technical discipline; equivalent field experience considered

· 4–7 years of experience in utility-scale solar PV and/or energy storage operations, commissioning, or technical support roles

· Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and train technical field personnel

· Advanced understanding of PV system architecture, inverters, BESS integration, protection schemes, and communications infrastructure

· Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and relay settings

· Field experience using diagnostic tools (IV curve tracers, infrared cameras, SCADA data analytics, etc.)

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical topics to varied audiences (technicians, managers, customers)

Preferred:

· Prior field engineering or O&M leadership experience

· Familiarity with key OEM platforms

· Working knowledge of ANSI/NETA testing standards, relay logic, and utility interconnection protocols

· SCADA, RTU, or DAS troubleshooting experience

· Proficiency with CMMS and analytics platforms such as Salesforce, or Bazefield

· OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or equivalent safety training; NABCEP certification a plus

· A valid driver’s license is required; additional certifications in fleet management are a plus.

· Must successfully complete pre-employment background and drug screen.
