Overview:

We are currently hiring a Software Engineer for a short term contract in Newport News, VA. This position will be mostly remote, with the expectation to come onsite 1-2 times a month. So you need to live within a decent driving distance.

Description:

• Design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software.
• Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements.
• May design embedded systems software.

Qualifications:

• US Citizenship.
• BS Degree.
• 5 years of relevant work experience.

Core Technical Skills

• ASP.NET WebForms - Deep understanding of page lifecycle, server controls, view state, and event-driven programming.
• .NET Framework 4.7 - Proficiency in C# or VB.NET, understanding of .NET ecosystem.
• SQL Server - T-SQL, stored procedures, database design, query optimization.
• ADO.NET - DataSet, DataReader, connection management.
• NestJS - TypeScript-based backend framework, dependency injection, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture.
• Angular - TypeScript-based frontend framework, components, services, reactive programming.
• TypeScript - Strong typing and modern JavaScript features.
• Node.js - Runtime environment and npm ecosystem

Web Technologies

• HTML/CSS/JavaScript - Client-side development and integration with server controls.
• AJAX - Asynchronous operations and partial page updates.
• JSON/XML - Data serialization and exchange formats

Development Environment

• Visual Studio - IDE proficiency for debugging and development.
• SQL Server Management Studio - Database administration and querying.
• Source Control - Git, TFS, or similar version control systems

Database & Architecture

• Database Design - Normalization, indexing, relationships.
• Stored Procedures & Functions - Server-side data logic.
• Performance Tuning - Query optimization, connection pooling

Container Skills

• Docker - Containerization, image creation, orchestration.
• Kubernetes - Container orchestration and deployment management.
• CI/CD Integration - Container pipelines and deployment strategies.
• Unit Testing - Jasmine, Karma for testing Angular applications.

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA.

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
