Job description

Job Summary

The Product Owner is a key liaison between market needs and the delivery of a solution. In this role, the Product Owner owns the backlog end-to-end—writing clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, collaborating with engineering and UX, and leveraging AI tools to work efficiently at scale. The Product Owner works under general supervision, solves problems of low to moderate complexity, and makes recommendations within established product guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Independently manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring the team always works on the highest-impact work
  • Author well-structured epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Rovo) to produce and refine backlog artifacts efficiently and at scale
  • Lead the planning of product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
  • Confirm that executed stories comply with Neumo’s Definition of Done
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support, to ensure successful product releases
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather and validate requirements and feedback
  • Work closely with senior leadership to inform product strategy and provide updates on product progress and milestones
  • Analyze market trends and the competitive landscape to inform product decisions and strategy
  • Ensure the product aligns with user needs, business goals, and technical capabilities
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Monitor and report on product performance, quality, and usage metrics
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • 2+ years’ experience working in Agile methodology with a deep understanding of the phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; preferably in a Product Owner or Business Analyst role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Public sector or public sector software experience desired; tax administration, short-term rental, or revenue management solutions a plus
  • Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, and Figma; experience with AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Copilot) to accelerate story creation and analysis
  • Understanding and experience with technical solutions and components (APIs, Middleware, Services, SQL)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to create epics, user stories, user journeys, wireframes, and basic diagrams to convey ideas
  • Strong written communication skills and client presence; able to translate effectively between technical and business audiences
  • Able to juggle multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to persuade, encourage, and motivate others to beat deadlines
