Position Description:

***Multiple Positions Available***

Designs and programs highly functional and scalable software applications, using Java, Angular, Node, GraphQL, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Deploys and supports large-scale solutions and performs testing and automation to deliver, measure, and iterate on products and features, using Test Driven Development (TDD) and DevSecOps. Identifies complex systems and associated data and provides a full stack development and solutions for customers. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex and multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) maintaining design, development, and delivery of customer-facing financial applications supporting online transaction processing, using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, and monitoring solutions (Splunk and Datadog).

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) maintaining design, development, and delivery of customer-facing financial applications supporting online transaction processing, using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, and monitoring solutions (Splunk and Datadog).

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") performing Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Java Web application development, using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Security, microservices architecture, and RESTful or SOAP-based web services; and developing chatbot solutions using RASA Natural Language Understanding (NLU) with Python.
  • DE designing and developing enterprise-grade Cloud security solutions, using AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Simple Storage Service (S3), Lambda, Relational Database Service (RDS), and ElastiCache; and enhancing security through web security using OAuth-encrypted key management, application secrets management, Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), AWS Key Management Service (KMS), AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF), and AWS Encryption SDK.
  • DE developing and maintaining responsive User Interface (UI) applications, using Angular, Node.js, Express, jQuery, AJAX, and Bootstrap CSS; performing unit and functional testing for Application Programing Interfaces (APIs) and UIs, using JUnit, Mockito, PowerMockito, Selenium IDE, and Jest; and creating virtual assets for functional and scalability testing, using WireMock.
  • DE integrating build processes aligned with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices, using Jenkins and GitLab for CI and UrbanCode Deploy for CD; and deploying RESTful microservice applications on AWS, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools -- Terraform and AWS CloudFormation Templates (CFT).
