Position Overview
DSN is seeking a Lead Cloud Software Architect to join a growing engineering team building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS. This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining architecture ownership, engineering mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing solutions that support key business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and delivery ownership for a team of software engineers building and operating scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Drive architecture decisions, engineering best practices, and solution design across Spring Boot microservices, OpenSearch platforms, CI/CD, observability, and AWS infrastructure.
  • Lead AWS cloud adoption and modernization initiatives, ensuring solution scalability, performance, security, and reliability.
  • Promote DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted development practices.
  • Support incident resolution, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor engineers and develop technical talent.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and other stakeholders to align technology investments with business goals.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and platform teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing solutions.

Work Environment
  • This is a remote position with occasional onsite work, based in Chicago, IL. Travel will be required as needed.

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required and 10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in a lead role.

  • Backend development: Java (latest version preferred), Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Event-Driven Architecture, and API Integration.
