Medical Coding Specialist - Dermatology and Orthopedics

Job description

The Opportunity
Clarity RCM is a rapidly growing revenue cycle management company on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies. We manage billing, credentialing, and account management for private dermatology practices nationwide, and we are expanding those operations into orthopedics. We are building the team that grows with us.
This role is for a certified coder who brings versatility. You will primarily support our core dermatology accounts while using your orthopedic knowledge to support our expanding musculoskeletal line of business. You will not be plugging in codes in a silo. You will own coding integrity for a defined set of clients and support account managers across specialties, touching client compliance, denial resolution, and payer navigation along the way.
The people who thrive here are the ones who find the documentation gaps before they cause denials, ask sharp questions, and figure things out.
Growth is real here. It is also earned, not given.
What You'll Do
  • Code across specialties. Translate clinical documentation into accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes, weighted heavily toward dermatology (biopsies, destructions, Mohs, excisions), with the ability to code orthopedic visits and procedures as needed. Apply specialty-specific and global surgery modifiers (25, 59, XE, XS, XP, XU) within NCCI edits so claims go out clean.
  • Own documentation quality. Validate provider notes against current E/M leveling guidelines on both office visits and procedure-heavy encounters, and go directly to practice managers and physicians when something is incomplete or ambiguous. They are not coding experts. You are.
  • Resolve denials. Research and work complex coding-related denials across major payers. Understand why a claim was denied and execute the right path forward, using approved AI tools to draft stronger appeals and move faster.
  • Work in client systems. Navigate ModMed (EMA), EZDERM, Nextech, eCW, and other modern EHR and practice management platforms fluently.
  • Make the operation better. Flag recurring documentation errors and payer trends that delay revenue, recommend fixes, and pick up new specialties and workflows as we grow. There is no formal curriculum here. The exposure is built into the work.
Who You Are
  • Certified and versatile. Active AAPC credential, 1 to 2 years of medical coding experience, strong dermatology expertise. Orthopedic coding experience is a major plus.
  • A self-starter who handles ambiguity. This is a fast-growing company and not everything is defined. You do not wait for perfect instructions before digging into a complex report or picking up a new specialty workflow.
  • AI-native. You already use AI tools in your work, or you are actively curious about how they can make you better. You think about efficiency, not just effort.
  • Clear and steady under pressure. Practice managers and providers can be demanding. You stay calm, give straight compliance-backed answers, and follow through.
  • Here to contribute, not to be developed. We will give you exposure across multiple specialties in a scaling business. What you do with it is on you.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary
  • 90% employer-covered health, dental, and vision
  • Remote, full-time position
  • Real exposure to every element of a scaling RCM operation
  • A team that moves fast and rewards people who do the same
