At a corporate level facilitate the nationwide operation of virtual construction. Manage people and processes to run smoothly and within budget.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Provide managerial guidance to Regional Managers of VC.
  • Chair VC steering committee.
  • Assist executive management with administrative functions associated with the Virtual Construction department.
  • Coordinate architecture of the national VC database.
  • Coordinate national manpower pool.
  • Enforce a nation detailing standard across the USE system.
  • Set policy for software type and configuration based on industry standards.
  • Collaborate with President of Construction, AND VCD implements operational objectives and goals.
  • Creates and assigns developmental projects for detailing teams across the nation.
  • Monitors overall quantity and quality of detailing operations for each of the regions.
  • In partnership with the VP operations, the VCD, the Director of Information Technology, and Regional VC managers, establishes and monitors department budget for hardware and software.
  • In partnership with the Director of Information Technology establishes policy and budget for WAN backbone and cloud based services.
  • Coordinate software training with regional VC managers.
  • Must keep current on industry software and hardware developments and proposes/implements new technologies or industry best practices as necessary.
Job Scope:
  • The VCD will collaborate routinely with the President of Construction, corporate and regional VP's of operations to facilitate overall company objectives with a "one team" approach.
Management Responsibility:
Acts as a project manager - management of a project team, on which the individuals comprising the team may vary by project.
Education:
  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Drafting Technology highly preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience will be considered.
  • Completion of a trade related apprenticeship program preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant mechanical construction industry experience is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year construction operations supervisory, supervising detailing function.
  • Mechanical field experience (pipe fitter, plumber, sheet metal worker) is preferred. Experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
  • Knowledge of mechanical construction operations, principles and processes, including project life-cycle.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of computer aided drafting software: AutoCAD and/or Revit; NavisWorks; AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP, Autodesk Fabrication, and related line of products.
  • Must possess at least basic level proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet search engines.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team to achieve results, despite multiple and changing priorities.
  • Proven collaborator - able to facilitate cooperation among teams and individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills - including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from engineers, groups, managers, clients, etc.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of most current industry technology, and ability to lead team to adapt to changing technology / computer systems, software, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret structural and architectural drawings, and other construction documents.
Physical and/or travel demands
The Virtual Construction Director duties require prolonged sitting and use of computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Visual acuity is required to discern drawings, and manual dexterity for operating computer equipment. Travel to regional offices for meetings, training and technical work is required.
Benefits and Compensation:
  • The range for this position has been established at $80,154.00 - $113,218.00
    per year and is US Engineering's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off.
