What Does a Remote Senior Project Manager Do?

As a remote senior project manager, you work from home to manage a project for a company or organization. This involves planning the project, ensuring all employees meet each deadline, and helping lead the development of the project. This is a relatively unusual position, but it has become more popular in recent years as other employees have started to work from home as well. As the name suggests, this is a senior position that is usually only available to applicants who have many years of experience managing projects.

Can project managers work fully remote?

Remote senior project managers can work fully remotely, especially in industries that rely on digital tools and virtual collaboration platforms. Many organizations now offer remote or hybrid arrangements for project management roles, provided candidates have strong communication skills, relevant certifications, and proficiency with project management software. As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead large-scale material handling and automation projects for some of the world's most recognized brands, serving as a trusted partner to both customers and internal teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast paced, highly collaborative environments and enjoys balancing customer relationships, operational execution, financial ownership, and team leadership. Throughout the interview process, we take the time to understand each candidate's technical experience, project background, leadership style, and long-term interests so we can thoughtfully align talent to the right team and business need across Parcel and/or Distribution & Fulfillment.
At DCS, our Senior Project Managers are strategic leaders who help bring complex customer visions to life. You will be responsible for guiding projects from kickoff through completion while maintaining strong communication, driving accountability, solving problems, and ensuring successful project delivery.
Sound like you? Read on.
In this role, you will...
  • Coordinate all phases of the project lifecycle including initiation, planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project, ensuring alignment to scope, priorities, critical path, and resource allocation.
  • Lead the overall project execution strategy while leveraging DCS lifecycle management processes and procedures to ensure consistency with commitments and goals.
  • Provide leadership and direction to cross functional teams, creating clarity around responsibilities, accountability, communication, and project expectations.
  • Partner with internal teams to gather, define, and communicate project requirements across technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross functional partners to align resources against project demands and proactively address gaps or risks.
  • Manage day to day customer communication and expectations across large-scale automation and material handling projects.
  • Drive organizational transparency, accountability, and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal teams and customers to foster collaboration and long term partnership.
  • Manage project budgets, cash flow, forecasting, and billing oversight.
  • Identify and resolve project and financial issues as they arise.

We are excited about you because...
  • You have 10+ years of Project Management experience within material handling, automation, Parcel, Distribution & Fulfillment, warehouse operations, or related industries.
  • You have experience managing large scale automation or material handling projects, ideally valued at $70M+.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • You are proficient within the Microsoft Office environment, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • You are a strong communicator who can effectively engage with both technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • You are highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in fast paced environments.
  • You are collaborative, adaptable, and solutions oriented.
  • You possess strong leadership skills and can successfully guide teams through complex project challenges.
  • You are financially minded and comfortable managing budgets, forecasting, cash flow, and project risk.
  • You are focused on driving successful project outcomes while building strong customer relationships.
