Senior Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a remote detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong general accounting knowledge, experience with month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting expertise, and hands-on experience with sales and use tax compliance. This role requires a highly organized professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies for multiple brands (multi-state) within the organization
  • Manage multiple entities P&Ls from revenue through Selling, General, and Administrative Expense
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely
  • Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
  • Research and resolve sales and use tax issues, including nexus and exemption documentation
  • Support special accounting projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, payroll, and management teams
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 4+ years of accounting experience required. Minimum of 2+ years of private industry accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software / ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
  • Experience with multi-state/multi-entity organizations preferred
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred
  • Experience with sales and use tax highly preferred
