Description

SAIC is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software/Computer Engineer to contribute to concept development, design, and integration of projects involving remote weapon systems and autonomous systems. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting computer and software engineering tasks that are critical to the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge technologies. The ideal candidate will play a key role in advancing our innovative remote weapon systems and contributing to our efforts in the autonomous systems domain.

This position is on-site in Crane, IN. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test software components and systems for remote weapon systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to integrate software with hardware components in  complex systems.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and testing of systems related to autonomous systems.
  • Participate in system requirements analysis, design reviews, and code inspections to ensure adherence to quality and performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot software and system issues, ensuring functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Contribute to ongoing research and development efforts to advance system capabilities.
  • Document designs, specifications, and systems processes to ensure clear communication across teams.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience. 
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java.
  • Familiarity with software development tools, version control systems, and software development life cycle methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of systems engineering concepts and software-hardware integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with robotic systems and/or weapon systems.

  • Prior exposure to military or defense systems is highly desired.
