Job description

We're looking for a Security Software Engineer to join our Security Operations team. In this role, you'll build and improve the systems, automation and operational workflows that help keep Pinterest secure day to day. You'll work across security and engineering to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions, build secure paved paths and improve how sensitive infrastructure and resources are managed across Pinterest. This role offers broad exposure across cloud security, access management, automation and secure infrastructure, with opportunities to partner with many teams and work on a wide range of technical problems.

What you'll do:

  • Build, maintain and improve security tooling, automations and services that support Security Operations.
  • Write production-ready code, infrastructure-as-code and technical documentation with a high bar for quality and reliability.
  • Improve security workflows such as access controls, cloud guardrails, service hardening and inbound security requests.
  • Partner with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to identify gaps and deliver practical security solutions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, improve runbooks and help maintain healthy, reliable systems.
  • Contribute to technical designs, project plans and retrospectives, while clearly communicating progress, risks and blockers.
  • Use AI to speed up repeatable engineering work such as prototyping, documentation and code improvements, while validating quality and correctness.
  • Use AI to summarize operational signals, surface patterns and reduce manual toil, while protecting sensitive data and maintaining accountability for final outputs


What we're looking for:

  • Experience in cloud, security, and/or software engineering including building and operating production services, automations or internal tools.
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code, especially in environments such as AWS and Terraform.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing production-quality code, debugging issues and delivering reliable solutions with clear documentation.
  • Experience in operational security, platform security or security engineering work such as access management, cloud security, service hardening or security tooling.
  • Experience working independently on projects with clear goals, breaking work into milestones and communicating progress and tradeoffs to teammates and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in day-to-day engineering work, while maintaining strong judgment and verification practices.
  • Strong track record of critically evaluating AI-assisted output through testing, validation, source-checking or peer review before shipping work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6-months and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.ย
