Remote Search Fund Internships information

What is a remote search fund internship?

Remote search fund internships are structured work experiences where interns assist search fund entrepreneurs or investors with tasks such as market research, deal sourcing, financial analysis, and due diligence, all while working remotely. These internships provide students or recent graduates with hands-on exposure to the search fund model, which involves raising capital to acquire and operate a small business. Interns typically work closely with the search fund principal, gaining direct insight into entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA), investment analysis, and the acquisition process. The remote aspect allows interns to participate regardless of their location, making these opportunities accessible to a wider range of candidates.

What does a remote search fund intern do?

As a Remote Search Fund Intern, your main responsibilities often include conducting industry and company research, sourcing potential acquisition targets, supporting due diligence processes, and preparing reports for fund management. You may also assist with outreach to business owners and advisors, and help analyze financial statements. These tasks are critical in identifying viable investment opportunities and supporting the decision-making process, making your contributions highly valuable to the fund's overall strategy and success.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote search fund intern?

To thrive as a Remote Search Fund Intern, you generally need strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and familiarity with business research methods, often supported by coursework in finance, business, or economics. Proficiency with Excel, financial modeling tools, CRM systems, and sometimes experience with databases or market research platforms is typical. Exceptional self-motivation, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills. These abilities ensure you can efficiently support deal sourcing, financial analysis, and due diligence in a remote, fast-paced investment environment.

  • Format content to capture featured snippets and "People Also Ask" placements

  • Gain exposure to Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), structuring content so AI-powered platforms like Chat GPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and voice assistants can extract and cite authoritative answers

  • Ideation and execution of creative assignments; assisting as requested by Mentor
