How you'll make an Impact
As a Systems Engineer (GovCon), you will provide advanced technical support for internal GovCon systems and external customers while serving as an escalation point for complex technical and compliance-related issues. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure infrastructure and ensuring ongoing CMMC Level 2 (NIST SP 800-171) compliance.
Location and Work Expectations
  • THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION; however, team members should be willing and able to travel if the need arises, though such travel is expected to be infrequent. Candidates with proximity to one of our Centers of Excellence are preferred (Lombard, IL; McLean, VA; Shreveport, LA; Overland Park, KS).
  • Travel in the US may be required

What you will be doing
  • Provide advanced technical support for internal GovCon systems and designated external customers
  • Act as an escalation resource for complex systems, network, and security issues
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality service to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate and timely ticket updates, documentation, and work records
  • Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, standards, and internal processes
  • Design, build, and support:
    • Networks, VLANs, firewall rules, and routing
    • Windows Server environments (AD, GPOs, DNS, DHCP)
    • Virtual machines, storage, RAID configurations, and host platforms
  • Administer and troubleshoot:
    • Hyper-V and/or VMware environments
    • Microsoft Azure resources (AVD)
    • Advanced applications, servers, and network services
  • Perform VM and storage migrations across hosts and platforms
  • Implement and support Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including VMs, VNets, gateways, and virtual firewalls
  • Support and maintain CMMC scoped environments, including:
    • Network segmentation and VLAN design
    • Identity and access controls
    • Secure administrative access models
  • Maintain ongoing CMMC Level 2 compliance across GovCon systems by ensuring secure configuration and operation of infrastructure and cloud environments
  • Collaborate with compliance, security, and leadership teams to:
    • Implement remediation plans
    • Address gaps identified through internal reviews, readiness exercises, and third-party assessments
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and validation of CMMC technical evidence, including:
    • System configurations and security settings
    • Architectural and network diagrams
    • Control implementation artifacts
  • Ensure all system changes, deployments, and upgrades are reviewed for CMMC impact prior to implementation
  • Participate in incident response activities involving CUI or GovCon systems, including investigation, containment, and documentation
  • Support external GovCon customers by:
    • Implementing compliant infrastructure and security configurations
    • Advising on CMMC aligned technical best practices
    • Acting as an escalation resource for compliance related technical issues
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of GovCon specific standards, baselines, and runbooks to maintain audit readiness
  • Stay current on evolving CMMC and NIST guidance and apply changes as required

You'll be successful in this role if you have experience in/with
  • 3-7 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or advanced technical support
  • NinjaOne RMM administration
  • Windows Server deployment and administration
  • Network infrastructure implementation and administration (routers, firewalls, switches, LAN/WAN)
  • VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization
  • Microsoft Azure infrastructure implementation
  • Strong documentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently with strong client service skills
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Accurate tracking of work performed, time, and related documentation

Required language skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally, in English, both written and orally
  • Ability to write business correspondence and process procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $70,000 and $90,000 per year. The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, and PTO. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
