PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

To reach Ending the Epidemic (ETE) targets, we will need consistent national HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) data to describe patterns of use and to understand which programs and policies are effective at facilitating PrEP uptake. This NIH-funded study aims to build on our history of developing public PrEP data resources and innovative metrics of PrEP use in PREMISE (PrEP Epidemiology, Modeling, and Surveillance), a collaborative and interdisciplinary group that will use national PrEP data, along with legal and policy coding, to inform the US HIV epidemic response. The study will conduct analyses regarding the scope and equity of PrEP scaleup overtime and will perform analyses to explore the impact of different locality-specific programs and policies on PrEP starts and PrEP equity.

PREMISE Study is seeking a highly motivated Post Doctoral Fellow to:

  • Lead and contribute to natural experiment and quantitative research efforts in the field of HIV epidemiology and prevention.
  • Design, conduct and lead quantitative studies.
  • Apply statistical models and use statistical software to derive quantitative research findings.
  • Prepare and publish manuscripts as first author in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Work as part of a team to develop scientific data, leveraging multiple national level datasets on PrEP and telePrEP prescribing.
  • Contribute as co-author to natural experiment analysis paper.
  • Contribute to AIDSVu team by developing innovative data visualization output to disseminate study findings.
  • Contribute to grant writing and project development efforts.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career.
  • The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc.
  • Designs and evaluates experiments.
  • Develops new ideas that promote current research.
  • Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • May be responsible for operation of specific equipment.
  • May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff.
  • Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee.
  • The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available.
  • Appointments cannot exceed five years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator in all aspects of the research.
  • Lead and collaborate on quantitative studies regarding PrEP policy.
  • Collaborate with project team members to develop scientific data.
  • Collaborate with other research teams and partners to disseminate study findings.
  • Develop and publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals as first author or co-author, where appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field.
  • Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.
  • Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
