The courses offer students an immersive, structured introduction to systems of American law, legal organization, objective and persuasive writing, and oral communication. Professors in the program select a pending case based on their interest in the subject matter.
The successful candidate will teach two synchronous online sections of Legal Writing classes per semester. Sections typically have approximately 20 students. The position is almost entirely remote. The successful candidate can teach classes from any location, except for a single three-day residency held in Burlington, Vermont, during which two Legal Research and Writing sessions will be held. VLGS covers the cost of travel and accommodations for the Residency. In addition to teaching, remote faculty provide service to VLGS and engage with other professionals and the public to contribute to the intellectual exchange of ideas, improve the law, and educate the public about the law, with an eye towards social justice.
