What we need

The Integration Specialist II role is to startup, commission, test PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) controlled equipment, and complete systems integration at customer sites. You will work side by side with electrical technicians to bring up control cabinets, load and configure PLC software, and execute tests to confirm functionality and performance.

*This is a remote, field-based position supporting regional site commissioning projects. We are seeking candidates located within one of our three U.S. regions — East, Central, or West — with current hiring for all three regions.*

*Team members will be based within their respective time zones to enable effective on-site collaboration with regional team members. Regular travel to site locations within the assigned region is required.*

The commissioning team plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful deployment of robotic systems. They are responsible for overseeing the beginning and final stages of system integration, testing, and optimization before the automation solution is put into operation. This team works closely with engineers and technicians to fine-tune robotics and automation systems, ensuring they meet performance standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Their expertise in troubleshooting, calibration, and quality control helps Symbotic deliver efficient and reliable robotic solutions to clients across various industries.

What you'll do

  • Drive thecommissioningofHMI systemsandestablishrobust connections withPLCs, ensuringoptimalcommunication and functionality across customer systems.

  • Conductend-to-end hardware testingand verify system performance to ensure compliance withproject specificationsand industry standards.

  • Performcomprehensive system functionality tests, ensuring complete and seamlessintegrationwith the customer'sWarehouse Management System (WMS).

  • Utilize advanceddiagnostic toolstoidentifyand resolve bothhardware and software issuesquickly and effectively,maintainingproject timelines.

  • Acquireandmaintainan expert-level understanding of thesoftware and hardwareused to support commissioning activities, ensuringproficiencyin all tools and systems.

  • Drive thestartup, commissioning, and testingofPLC-controlled equipmentat customer locations, adhering to project deadlines and quality expectations.

  • Executesystem integration testingofSymboticadapter cells,storage solutions, andsafety systems, ensuring full integration withcustomer WMSinterfaces.

  • Execute tasks as outlined in theCommissioning Services Scope of Work (SOW), includingcontrol cabinet startup,software loading,configuration, andperformance validation.

  • Collaborate withcross-functional teams(engineering, software, and customer support) to ensure a smooth commissioning process and provide ongoing technical support during system go-live.

  • Drive the commissioningofPLC controllers, ensuring precise configuration andoptimalperformance for customer sites.

  • Oversee the commissioning ofHMI systems, ensuring complete connection and integration withPLCs.

  • Executeend-to-end hardware testing, ensuring all systems are functioning per customer and project specifications.

  • Perform high-levelsystem functionality testingto ensurethefullintegrationwith the customer’s WMS, making necessary adjustments to meet customer requirements.

  • Employ advanceddiagnostic utilitiestofacilitatetroubleshootingand resolution of complex system issues.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, ora relatedfield required.

  • Experience with and/or exposure toone or more of the following areas:

  • PLC Systems: Experience with Rockwell Automation, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and HMI systems.

  • Robotics: Familiarity with ABB, Fanuc.

  • Industrial Networks: Knowledge of Ethernet/IP,ProfiNet.

  • Interface Operators: Experience with Panel View Plus.

  • Proficiencyin reading electrical drawings.

  • Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems.

  • Hands-on experience with motion control equipment (e.g., Variable Frequency Drives, VFDs) is a plus.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide remote system support using tools like Remote Desktop, SSH, and web browsers.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and execute in high-pressure situations.

Our Environment

  • Remote, field-based position.

  • Travel isrequiredup to 75% of the time.Employeesmust have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsiblefor owninga credit card andmanagingexpenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Ourmain officeis in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position willbe requiredto perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.

  • The employee isfrequentlyrequired to walk and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employeeis routinely required towork at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Mustcomply withall safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

  • Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPErequired(hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into thestructure. Youmaybe requiredto routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $82,000.00 - $113,300.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
