Durr Universal: This division of Durr CTS focuses on providing advanced air filtration and noise-reduction solutions for large gas turbines and diesel engines used in industrial, power generation, and oil & gas facilities. Their products help facilities meet strict noise, safety, and emissions requirements while maintaining optimal equipment performance. Durr Universal brings over 60 years of global experience in designing and delivering custom-engineered inlet systems, exhaust silencers, filtration solutions, and complete turbine/engine silencing systems. They can engineer, build, install, and service the full set of components required to manage noise, protect personnel, and ensure efficient, reliable operation of heavy-duty rotating equipment.
Overview:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, commissioning, and startup of industrial equipment while serving as the primary liaison between customers, contractors, and Durr project teams.
Successful candidates have strong mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial equipment installation, steel structures, welding, coatings, and rigging practices. They must be able to interpret engineering drawings, communicate effectively with customers and teams, adapt to changing project needs, and travel extensively to support field service projects. A strong commitment to safety and project execution is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Put safety first in everything you do and help ensure our colleagues, customers, and business partners remain safe at all times.
• Be the liaison between the customer, contractor, and Durr staff
• Assist in the installation of Durr and other equipment
• Manage all 3rd party subcontractors, ensure work is done safely, properly, and on time and in budget.
• Work with site personnel and internal personnel on project issues and resolve them effectively.
• Develop cost estimates and customer proposals for field installation projects.
• Creation and deployment of mobilization schedules for the field service department.
• Assist in equipment commissioning and documentation as required
• Participate in contract reviews and kick-off meetings involving the field service scope of work.
• Assist with parts procurement as needed
• When required, provide customer training on installed equipment
• Provide equipment modular build support as required
Candidate Requirements:
• OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Construction Safety Trained
• Desire to travel (70%)
• Overtime expected
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents (i.e. layout, sectional drawings, installation manuals, crane lift plans, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven mechanical aptitude - including the use of various machining tools, welding equipment and methods, and various testing equipment
• Ability to develop and interpret project schedules and daily task lists
• Demonstrated experience with installation and inspection of large steel structures (ducting and tall stacks, steel platforms, turbine inlets and exhaust) and their welding processes, inspection of welds, and industrial coatings
• Working experience with safe lifting & rigging methods
• Flexible to adapt to same-day and next-day changes
• Ideal candidate will have experience developing RFQ/RFPs for work that would be subcontracted to 3rd party vendors.
• Experience with steel fabrication and custom equipment manufacturing.
• Power generation experience is a plus
• Familiar with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is a plus
Painting and coatings certification/ experience is a plus
