Job description

Summary
In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Triage Coordinator (TC) oversees all dispatch activity and referral management prior to approach within the Donation Logistics Department. The TC determines appropriate timing and resource allocation during case investigation, ensures referral timeliness standards are met and assigns the appropriate staff for the donation approach.
Duties & Responsibilities
The following job duties and responsibilities are stated in broad terms and not intended to be inclusive. Those in bold are essential duties of the position:
  • Oversee referral case activities and manage referral logistics to approach using the organizational dashboard.
  • Coordinate resources and logistics for organ referral activity, including needs for staff utilization and dispatch, to ensure timely responses on all active referrals.
  • Accurately document all required information into Gift of Life's EMR including coding, imminent and eligible outcomes.
  • Initiate authorization or pause conversation with family and/or hospital staff related to organ donation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Required
  • Registered nurse, paramedic, or other healthcare training with at least 18 months of Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) experience.
Preferred
  • Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams and other technology systems used in business operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage task or project assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Concentrate and function with frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Focus on work details for extended periods of time.
