Job Description

  • Manage an independent caseload as lead counsel with partner guidance and increasing autonomy.
  • Handle pre-litigation mechanic's lien claims, payment bond claims, demands, and related disputes.
  • Take litigation matters from initial demand through discovery, motion practice, hearings, mediation, trial preparation, and post-judgment collection when necessary.
  • Draft and argue motions, including Motions for Summary Judgment on applicable matters.
  • Conduct legal research, discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Negotiate settlements and develop practical strategies to resolve matters efficiently.
  • Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and internal team members.
  • Analyze legal and factual issues, identify risks, and provide thoughtful recommendations.
  • Deliver high-quality work while managing deadlines, priorities, and an active litigation caseload.
  • Build trusted client relationships by providing responsive, practical, business-focused legal guidance.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
  • 1+ yrs of construction law or creditor's rights litigation exp
  • Commercial litigation, construction litigation, creditors' rights, lien claims, payment bond claims, or related business litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage matters independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, initiative, judgment, and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial legal environment.
