This job leads and supervises the documentation excellence program for designated service lines comprised of multiple functional areas including hospital and professional coding, hospital and professional CDI, and documentation quality to meet system goals. This job is responsible for overseeing initiatives to improve processes, maximize efficiency, serve internal and external customers and maintain high employee engagement.

Education
Required - High school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience
Required - Three years of experience in healthcare management or related field

Certifications
Preferred - Current RN License in the state of practice; Current Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); current CCS or CPC certification
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout required job processes.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, keyboard, and various software packages specific to role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, set priorities and maintain complete confidentiality.

Job Duties
  • Supervises the daily operations of the department. Supervises and leads team by monitoring individual performance, coaching employees, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, resolving employee issues and developing team members.
  • Implements and monitors quality control measures.
  • Monitors and documents performance metrics.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, administration, nurses and support staff to improve documentation.
  • Other related duties as required.
