About the Position
As a mid-level Electrical Engineer in the BESS group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be a part of an integrated design team and are responsible for coordinating with team members to meet project schedules and deliverables on time and within the defined budget.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to perform detailed physical and electrical design and engineering for all aspects of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Typical design products might include BESS equipment general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bill of materials, construction details, grounding details, conduit plans, illumination plans, etc.
  • Prepares computer-based models and performs power system studies on utility scale BESS projects as required.
  • Typical electrical power system studies might include BESS equipment sizing, specification, and selection, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, etc.
  • Writes material, equipment, and construction specifications.
  • Reviews spec sheets and submittals for conformance with specifications and design.
  • Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies.
  • Provides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports, as required.
  • Reviews the work of Designers, Drafters, and Field Service Personnel for general quality and accuracy, as required.
  • Maintains a strong understanding and comprehension of applicable Codes and Standards.
  • Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics.
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards.
  • Works additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as required.
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work.
  • Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.
  • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
Must Have
  • Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
  • Experience: 1 - 4 years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Nice to Have
  • Experience with utility-scale BESS
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical, electrical power system study software (PowerFactory, ETAP), CYMCAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, Visual Lighting, etc.
  • Experience with 3D BIM design software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software
