Remote Revit Designer information

What is a remote Revit designer?

A Remote Revit Designer is a professional who specializes in using Autodesk Revit software to create, modify, and manage architectural and engineering building models, but works from a location outside the traditional office environmentβ€”often from home or another remote location. This role typically involves collaborating with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders through cloud-based platforms and digital communication tools. Remote Revit Designers are responsible for producing precise digital models, construction documents, and often coordinating Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows. Their work enables project teams to visualize, plan, and execute building projects efficiently, even when team members are geographically dispersed.

How does a remote Revit designer typically collaborate with project teams and managers while working off-site?

Remote Revit Designers frequently collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers using cloud-based platforms and project management tools. Communication is maintained through video calls, shared digital workspaces, and instant messaging to ensure design updates and feedback are integrated promptly. Designers are often responsible for attending virtual coordination meetings, sharing progress updates, and resolving design issues in real time. This remote structure allows for flexible schedules but requires strong self-management skills and proactive communication to stay aligned with team objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Revit designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Revit Designer, you need expertise in architectural drafting, strong knowledge of building codes, and proficiency with Autodesk Revit, typically supported by a relevant degree or certification. Daily tasks require using Revit, BIM software, and cloud collaboration platforms like Autodesk BIM 360. Strong communication, attention to detail, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for coordinating with remote teams and clients. These skills ensure accurate, efficient project delivery and seamless collaboration in a virtual work environment.

Job description

Are you a mid-level IT professional looking to expand your foundation in systems administration, network engineering, and infrastructure? Thompson & Litton, an established multi-disciplined firm, has an immediate opening for an IT Support Technician. If you are ready to build on your core support experience and step into infrastructure management, we want a self-motivated individual to grow within our dynamic internal team.
While this role serves as a primary point of contact for our 9 offices and 400+ endpoints, it is designed with a strong technical growth track-offering direct exposure to networking, server administration, and cybersecurity workflows alongside senior IT staff.
The Role: Support & Systems Administration
As part of our internal IT team, you will manage diverse technology environments and work directly with senior staff to maintain and scale our technical infrastructure. You will:
  • Provide Advanced Technical Support: Serve as a key escalation point for support requests via phone, ticketing system, and in-person-diagnosing and resolving complex Windows 10/11, hardware, and network-related issues.
  • Support AEC Production Workflows: Manage specialized production software environments, including AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam (licensing, application integration, plugin conflicts, and large-format plotting workflows).
  • Manage Users & Workstations: Lead account administration in Active Directory / Entra ID, streamline workstation deployment and imaging, and manage hardware life cycles across the firm.
  • Maintain Infrastructure & Networks: Assist with wired and wireless network administration (Cisco, Ubiquiti), manage firewalls (pfSense), and support Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) configuration, maintenance, and security patching.
  • Maintain Systems & Security: Enforce IT security practices, verify system backup integrity, maintain detailed technical documentation, and participate in a rotating after-hours/on-call schedule to support critical operations.

What You Bring
  • Experience: Proven mid-level IT support experience in a professional or enterprise environment (3+ years preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Windows OS troubleshooting, Active Directory / Microsoft 365 administration, workstation hardware management, and core networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, IP routing, Wi-Fi, network printers).
  • Bonus Exposure: Familiarity with CAD/design environments (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam), Cisco/Ubiquiti hardware, pfSense firewalls, or Windows/Linux server environments (CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are a plus).
  • Communication & Logistics: Strong problem-solving and customer service skills, with the ability to clearly translate complex technical issues for non-technical staff; valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally between regional office sites.
  • Physical Ability: Capability to lift and move IT equipment up to 40 lbs.

The T&L Advantage: Why Join Us?
Joining our team means becoming part of a forward-thinking organization committed to providing an environment where our employees can thrive.
  • Flexible Working Environment: We prioritize work-life balance and offer a remote-hybrid opportunity that combines hands-on regional office collaboration with the flexibility of working remotely.
  • Tailored Career Development: We do not restrict you to basic ticket-closing; we focus on mentorship, giving you hands-on exposure to server, network, and security operations to help you build a full systems administrator skill set.
  • Innovative Work Environment: We foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, where ideas are valued and creativity is encouraged.
  • Professional Growth: We invest in your continuous learning, offering internal mentorship, skill development opportunities, and career advancement within our generalist IT team.
  • Competitive Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), to reward your dedication
