Typical Day in the Life

A typical day as a Healthcare Revenue Cycle Consultant might include:

  • Conducting onsite and remote revenue cycle assessments for healthcare providers (primarily hospitals), including evaluating patient access, mid-cycle, and back-end functions; identifying improvement opportunities and recommending solutions.
  • Providing interim revenue cycle management for clients, including implementing recommendations from assessments and leading day-to-day operations across revenue cycle, revenue integrity, and business office functions.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to clients by addressing day-to-day operational and business questions.
  • Building and managing client relationships by assessing needs, evaluating solution options, and delivering value-driven services.
  • Evaluating revenue cycle compliance with applicable healthcare rules and regulations.
  • Researching and staying current on healthcare revenue cycle regulations and industry trends.
  • Supporting business development efforts through marketing, cross-selling, presentations, and industry conference participation.
  • Developing and enhancing healthcare consulting service offerings based on identified client needs.
  • Providing internal educational sessions to healthcare staff to increase awareness of healthcare issues and service offerings.
  • Leading, training, and mentoring Associate and Senior Associate staff; delegating work as appropriate.
  • Managing client billings and supporting practice development initiatives.
  • Participating in healthcare-related professional and community organizations.
  • Writing articles on issues impacting healthcare providers.

Who You Are

  • You are passionate about helping others and keeping up to date with ever-changing healthcare regulations.
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration or a related field, or related equivalent years of experience.
  • You have 7+ years of experience in the healthcare industry - specifically revenue cycle, revenue integrity, coding, and/or chargemaster experience.
  • You hold a certification in billing, coding or other revenue cycle areas (preferred).
  • You have advanced knowledge of terminology, policies and practices, and financial programs of healthcare systems.
  • You have well-rounded knowledge of CMS, and other state and federal regulatory guidance related to the healthcare industry with a strong understanding of inpatient, outpatient and professional billing and payer requirements.
  • You have knowledge of various healthcare software packages and electronic health record systems (i.e., EPIC, Cerner, MediTech, etc.) You are comfortable navigating various modules within the systems and extracting reports such as detailed aging reports, credit balance summaries and aged trial balances.
  • You have strong relationship-building and networking skills, and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to business development efforts.
  • You can communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • You have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • You can establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • You are proficient with computers, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and using various software packages.
  • You are able to travel approximately 30%, with flexibility to increase or decrease based on client needs and conference timing.

Compensation: $100,000-$150,000

Our compensation philosophy emphasizes competitive and equitable pay. Eide Bailly complies with all local/state regulations regarding displaying ranges. Final compensation decisions are dependent upon factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
