About the Role:
  • Coordinates the daily billing activities of assigned areas. Works independently to maintain consistent workflow of all billing activities. Works collaboratively with the Professional Billing Office, physicians and third party payers. Provides and performs coding functions to optimize revenue enhancement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and monitors daily revenue cycle activities to optimize reimbursement opportunities.
  • Works in conjunction with intradepartmental administration, physicians and other interdepartmental representatives to support established policies.
  • Verifies benefit coverage to determine patient financial liability.
  • Works proactively and collaboratively to investigate and resolve patient billing issues.
  • Provides documentation requested by third party payers to enhance reimbursement opportunities.
  • May perform patient registration and appointment scheduling into the system and update information as applicable.
  • Optimizes facility and professional charge entry and subsequent collections for all services provided.
  • Reviews patient encounter forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Consults with providers when additional information is required.
  • Performs charge entry functions.
  • Works in collaboration with the Professional Billing Office to provide attachments and supporting documentation required to process claims.
  • Reviews and resolves front desk edit reports, missing charge reports and claims manager edit reports.
  • Serves as a technical resource to department for coding recommendations.
  • Performs abstraction of clinical documentation and reviews and assigns codes. Verifies and/or assigns diagnosis codes and modifiers
  • Ensures accuracy of code linkage diagnosis to procedure. Identifies repetitive coding/documentation issues.
  • Works in conjunction with Practice Manager and Compliance Department to investigate and resolve claims and compliance audits.
  • Enters all coded services including surgical procedures, diagnostic tests and office visits.
  • Ensures all charges for services provided are entered according to established Quality Indicator Goals.
  • Evaluates office billing activity.
  • Follows up on outstanding referrals and may prepare reports.
  • Works in collaboration with the Coding and Compliance Directors to ensure coding standards are maintained.  

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience
  • Certification:  CCS-P or CPC required

Salary range $25 to $30, dependent on experience and internal equity.
