KittyHawk Digital is looking for a Senior React Native Developer with extensive experience building high-quality mobile applications using React Native, React, and Node.js. As a senior developer, you will lead the development of cross-platform mobile apps (iOS and Android), focusing on performant, responsive, and polished user experiences. You will work on front-end components, application logic, API integrations, and data flow between the mobile client, backend services, and third-party systems.

This role involves full-stack contributions with a primary emphasis on mobile app architecture, from concept through production deployment to the App Store and Google Play.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full-stack, hands-on development of mobile applications and supporting services, from concept to production.
  • Design and develop complex React Native applications, including reusable components, navigation, state management, and offline capabilities.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate user-facing mobile elements with server-side logic (Node.js).
  • Optimize application performance for maximum speed, scalability, and battery efficiency on mobile devices.
  • Implement pixel-perfect, responsive UIs that match designs, with smooth animations, transitions, and native-like experiences.
  • Integrate with third-party services, APIs, and backend systems (including Python/Django where applicable).
  • Participate in system design, architecture decisions, code reviews, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to company best practices, accessibility standards, and security compliance.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, app store deployments, and ongoing maintenance of mobile apps.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience with strong expertise in React Native for production mobile apps (iOS and Android).
  • Deep experience with React (including hooks, context, and modern patterns) and Node.js on the backend.
  • Proven track record shipping mobile applications to the Apple App Store and Google Play.
  • Experience designing and developing web services using REST, JSON, and related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile-specific considerations: performance optimization, responsive design across devices, push notifications, deep linking, offline support, and platform differences (iOS vs Android).
  • Experience with modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript is a plus.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest, Detox, or React Native Testing Library.
  • Proficiency with modern styling approaches (StyleSheet, Styled Components, Tailwind for React Native, etc.).
  • Experience with state management solutions (Redux, MobX, Zustand, Context API, etc.).
  • Understanding of accessibility (a11y), security best practices, and app store guidelines.
  • Development experience with Python and Django is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with Azure and/or AWS cloud technologies is a plus (e.g., App Center, Azure DevOps, AWS Amplify, Cognito, etc.).
  • Strong Git/BitBucket experience and comfort working in collaborative team environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple ongoing assignments, ramp up quickly on new technologies, and break down complex problems.
