Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Rail Project Engineer to design and lead rail projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of railroad design, grading, rail layout, rail corridors, federal and state regulations, and a strong competency in CAD. This role will involve strengthening client relationships, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring successful project delivery.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Lead design efforts for and support Project Managers manage an array of small to large rail projects simultaneously.
  • Assist the Project Manager assign and train junior staff to work proficiently in CAD to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Attend client meetings and support the strengthening of client relationships by contributing to meetings and delivering projects successfully.
  • Coordinate with governing agencies across multiple states to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures throughout project development.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to gain deeper understanding of business practices and grow into Project management.
  • Travel occasionally to rail project sites, in person client meeting, and industry conferences.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in rail, transit or site development projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to actively contributing to a dynamic and employee-owned culture.
