Job Title: Export Compliance Specialist
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000
Location: Cleveland, Ohio or Remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume primary responsibility for performing export classifications under both the ITAR and EAR for company products, parts, and technology.
  • Review and audit export classification processes and decisions.
  • Document export classification rationale and maintain classification records.
  • Analyze transactions for export license applicability and manage the full export license lifecycle, including experience with SNAP-R and DECCS government application systems.
  • Draft and support license applications submitted through BIS and DECCS.
  • Review End User Certificates (EUCs) and determine Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO).
  • Monitor and manage the export compliance inbox, responding to export-related requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance to business units on export processes, licensing requirements, and classification best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to gather technical information needed for export classifications.
  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to export compliance.
  • Develop and deliver export compliance training programs to cross-functional teams, including Engineering and Sales.
  • Oversee denied-party screening processes for customers and vendors and conduct ownership reviews as required.
  • Maintain and update the Export Compliance Manual and Technology Control Plans in accordance with evolving federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of export licenses, monitor status, and ensure timely renewals.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of export compliance experience with strong expertise in export classification and licensing.
  • In-depth knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Familiarity with deemed export regulations and best practices for managing controlled technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate technical specifications and regulatory requirements for accurate classifications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, global trade environment.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems used to manage trade compliance data.
