Job description

Who we are

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Central Ohio, we’re a privately-owned, independent healthcare navigation organization. We believe that no one should have to navigate the cost and complexity of healthcare alone, and we’re on a mission to make healthcare simpler and more effective for our millions of members. Our big-hearted, tech-savvy team fights to ensure that our members get the care they need, when they need it, at the most affordable cost – that’s why we call ourselves Healthcare Warriors®.

We’re committed to building diverse and inclusive teams – more than 2,000 of us and counting – so if you’re excited about this position, we encourage you to apply – even if your experience doesn’t match every requirement.

About the role

This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement with an initial 3-month term and the potential for month-to-month extensions based on business needs and performance.

As a Lead Frontend/Full Stack Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the design, development, and delivery of modern web and mobile applications. You will lead frontend architecture using React, React Native, and TypeScript while collaborating with backend teams utilizing Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can drive architecture decisions, mentor engineers, improve engineering practices, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.

Location: This position is located at our Dublin, OH campus with hybrid flexibility or may work remotely anywhere in the United States of America. Hybrid availability is preferred.

Engagement Details:

  • 1099 independent contractor position.
  • Initial 3-month contract with potential extensions.
  • No company-sponsored benefits are offered with this position.
  • Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and business expenses.
  • Must reside in the United States and be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • No C2C only direct employment of 1099 Contractor.

What you’ll do

  • Lead frontend and mobile application architecture using React, React Native, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
  • Design and develop scalable, responsive web and mobile applications.
  • Partner with backend engineers to define APIs, integrations, and data flows.
  • Drive architecture decisions focused on scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Mentor engineers and promote software engineering best practices.
  • Champion code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.
  • Support production troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, CIS, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise with React, React Native, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
  • Experience building scalable web and mobile applications.
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and backend systems.
  • Strong understanding of AWS cloud environments and modern application architecture.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other relational databases.
  • Experience with responsive design, accessibility, performance optimization, and component-based architecture.
  • Experience with design systems and UI frameworks such as Material UI or Ant Design.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Protect and take care of our company and member’s data every day by committing to work within our company ethics and policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, health technology, payer, provider, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, and secure software development practices.
  • Experience with Progressive Web Applications (PWAs).
  • Experience evaluating build-versus-buy solutions and vendor technologies.

At Quantum Health, protecting member data is foundational to everything we do. All contractors are expected to uphold the highest standards of security, privacy, ethics, and compliance.
