Job description

PRODUCT ENGINEERING - REMOTE

Senior Software Engineer / Architect

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Architect to join our engineering organization as a senior individual contributor. This is a high-impact, hands-on technical leadership role for someone who loves getting deep in the code while also shaping the long-term direction of how we build software.

About the role

As one of our most senior engineers, you'll own large sections of our codebase, drive architectural decisions across a ~45-person engineering organization, and set the technical direction for major areas of our stack. You'll be expected to write and review code regularly - this is not a purely advisory role.

You'll work closely with technical leads and senior engineers, multiplying their effectiveness through mentorship, cross-team collaboration, and clear technical vision. You'll look 6-12+ months ahead, identify areas of greatest need, and build the plans to address them.

What you'll do

Own the architecture and long-term technical roadmap for major areas of our technology stack

Lead and drive the design of complex, scalable systems that meet business needs today and tomorrow

Reduce complexity - consistently find ways to get more done with less by simplifying services, processes, and codebases

Mentor technical leads and senior engineers; multiply team effectiveness through cross-functional facilitation and inclusive decision-making

Act as a technical evangelist - collaborate with executives and stakeholders to align technical and business strategies

Drive innovation in cost-effectiveness, scalability, and engineering productivity across the division

Proactively identify and mitigate technical debt; introduce improvements that raise the quality and velocity of the whole team

What we're looking for

5+ years of experience working in software development

Deep expertise in software architecture, system design, and scalability with a strong hands-on background

Proficiency with our core stack: Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, and PostgreSQL

Proven track record of making high-impact technical decisions in complex, production environments

Excellent cross-functional communication - equally effective with engineers and non-technical stakeholders

A track record of mentoring senior engineers and technical leads and elevating the people around you

Strong understanding of security, performance, resilience, and cloud-native design at scale

Continuous learner who stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies
