Job description

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to support the modernization of a mission-critical government information system. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience testing enterprise Java web applications, with a strong emphasis on functional, regression, user interface (UI), accessibility, and integration testing within secure, highly regulated environments.

In this role, you will develop and execute comprehensive test strategies for application upgrades involving Apache Tomcat, Oracle 19c, Apache Solr, SAP Business Intelligence, and Java-based web applications. You will be responsible for validating system functionality, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity and accessibility requirements, and supporting automated testing initiatives within GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with software developers, business analysts, database administrators, DevOps engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and system stakeholders to ensure the delivery of a secure, reliable, and high-quality application.

Essential Job Functions:

Test Planning & Execution

Develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts for application enhancements and system modernization efforts.

Perform functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, and user acceptance testing of enterprise Java web applications.

Conduct comprehensive UI testing, including usability, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design validation.

Execute manual testing for complex business workflows and system functionality.

Verify application functionality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Quality, Security & Accessibility

Validate compliance with federal cybersecurity policies and secure application requirements.

Ensure applications meet Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.

Verify application security controls, authentication, authorization, and data protection requirements.

Test enterprise applications deployed in Windows Server environments.

Automation & Integration

Develop, maintain, and enhance automated UI regression test suites.

Perform API testing of RESTful services and Apache Solr integrations.

Integrate automated testing into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Manage defects throughout the software development lifecycle using enterprise defect tracking tools.

Coordinate issue resolution with development teams and verify corrective actions.

Enterprise Application Validation

Validate Apache Tomcat deployments and application configurations.

Required Skills:

Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

13+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Software Testing, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

A Bachelor's degree may substitute for 4 years of experience.

A Master's degree may substitute for 6 years of experience.
