Position Summary

The QA Technical Specialist II provides quality assurance and waste characterization technical support for programmatic responsibilities associated with radioactive mixed waste characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal. This position supports assessment activities as a technical specialist with direct experience in characterization processes and acceptance requirements.

This role is aligned with quality assurance division programmatic responsibilities and requiresexpertisein waste characterization, including Non-Destructive Assay, Visual Examination, and/or Flammable Gas Analysis. The position may be remote with travel expectedapproximately onceper month and follows a 4/10anticipatedwork schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical assessments supporting quality assurance activities associated with radioactive mixed waste characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal.
  • Apply technical specialistexpertisein characterization processes, including Non-Destructive Assay, Visual Examination, and/or Flammable Gas Analysis.
  • Assess the effectiveness of activities associated with waste characterization and related radioactive mixed waste program requirements.
  • Support quality assurancedivisionprogrammatic responsibilities by evaluating technical processes, documentation, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Apply expert-level knowledge of technical disciplines associated with nuclear facilities, waste characterization processes, hazardous materials, engineering, chemistry, industrial safety, nuclear safety, radioactive packaging and transportation, or similar disciplines.
  • Use knowledge of applicable regulations, procedures, and program documents to successfully complete assigned activities during CBFO program area audits.
  • Coordinate technical input, assessment observations, and quality-related findings in support of program performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
