What is a remote python job?

Remote jobs that use Python focus on coding software and applications to meet the needs or business objectives of your employer. This may involve working with a database, customizing an existing application, or otherwise modifying software based on its expected environment. You can also find a few remote roles that allow you to teach Python instead of using it. Many remote jobs that use Python also involve coding in other common languages as necessary—Python may be the bulk of the work, but the ability to switch to other modes of programming as needed is essential for success in this field. As a remote employee or independent contractor, you may use virtual office software to coordinate with others, upload software into a central database for testing, or work odd hours to meet the needs of your client.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote python developer?

To thrive as a Remote Python Developer, you need strong programming skills in Python, experience with software development life cycles, and a relevant degree or professional experience. Familiarity with tools like Git, Docker, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and frameworks such as Django or Flask is typically required, along with knowledge of remote collaboration tools like Slack and Jira. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote team integration and project delivery. These skills ensure efficient, high-quality code development, seamless teamwork, and the ability to meet project goals independently in a remote environment.

How do remote python developers typically collaborate and communicate with their teams?

Remote Python Developers often work closely with distributed teams using collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and GitHub. Clear communication and regular check-ins are essential for syncing on project requirements, code reviews, and troubleshooting. Developers are encouraged to document their code thoroughly and proactively update their progress to ensure smooth workflow across different time zones. This environment fosters independence and strong written communication skills, while also providing opportunities to participate in virtual standups, sprint planning, and peer programming sessions.

Want to work with highly motivated individuals on high-performance teams?JoinWWT today!

Why Join the Internal WWT IT Team?
The Internal WWT IT team serves as the backbone of the company's technology ecosystem. We design, build, and operate platforms that power WWT's internal applications and engineering teams across the enterprise. Our work enables secure, scalable, and highly automated delivery of software and services that directly support the company's strategic objectives.
Joining this team means working on foundational technology that matters-shared platforms, developer tooling, and automation that WWT depends on every day. You'll be part of a collaborative, forward-looking engineering culture where ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement are expected and encouraged.

Why Join the INFOPS Application Development Team?
The INFOPS Application Development team operates within WWT's Internal IT PlatformEngineering organization and focuses on enabling developers. The team builds and evolvesplatforms, workflows, and automation that allow application teams to safely and efficientlyself-service infrastructure, deployments, and integrations.
Our work emphasizes Platform Engineering best practices, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and automation. As the organization continues to mature, the team is also evolving toward AI-native engineering, incorporating intelligent automation and AI-assisted workflows to reduce operational toil, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery across the software development lifecycle.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building leverage-creating systems and patterns that multiply the effectiveness of developers and other engineers-and who want to have a direct, visible impact on how modern engineering practices scale across the company.

What Will You Be Doing?
As an Engineer on the INFOPS Application Development team, you will play a key role in
designing, building, and operating the platforms that support WWT's Prototype Platform. This position blends hands-on technical execution with platform ownership, automation, and close collaboration with citizen application developers of varying stakeholders across the business and partner engineering teams.

You will help design, build, and maintain a hybrid platform environment, integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud services. A core responsibility of this role is owning and evolving the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform specific to the WWT Prototype Platform, including configuration, lifecycle management, and process refinement.

You will design, write, and maintain GitOps-driven CI/CD pipelines that automate application delivery to Kubernetes platforms. This includes deploying and operating distributed applications using Helm charts, developing and maintaining Kubernetes operators where appropriate, and continuously improving delivery workflows through automation and standardization. The role also includes ownership and operational responsibility for shared platforms that stateful applications depend on, such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and similar services. This includes lifecycle management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring platform reliability and availability.

You will build and maintain automation, self-service workflows, and platform capabilities that reduce manual effort and remove common bottlenecks. You will work closely with customers across the business, including C level, to understand requirements and engineer scalable, repeatable solutions aligned to business needs. You will collaborate with partner engineering teams across WWT to align standards and drive efficiencies.
Operational excellence is a key expectation. You will monitor platform performance and
availability, proactively identify and remediate issues, troubleshoot complex incidents, and
participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance windows, and regularly work a dynamic support ticket queue every day. Clear documentation, strong communication, and the ability to balance project delivery with operational responsibilities are essential to success in this role.
You are expected to actively participate in agile practices, including daily stand-ups, planning sessions, retrospectives, and ideation workshops, while contributing to continuous improvement across the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Kyverno admission policies across development, test, and production environments; update image verification policies, registry allow-lists, and pod security constraints based on security requirements and operational learnings
  • Administer secrets management platform; maintain policy frameworks, help teams configure and rotate secrets, and resolve credential injection failures and compliance violations
  • Create and maintain Grafana dashboards and alerts tracking cluster health, resource utilization, pod scheduling, deployment throughput, and pipeline performance
  • Analyze Splunk logs and observability data to identify performance bottlenecks, resource contention, and OpenShift cluster scaling opportunities; implement optimization changes (scaling policies, resource requests, queue tuning, quota management) and partner with the Infrastructure team on capacity planning recommendations (Infrastructure owns cluster management, but you drive observability-based improvements)
  • Monitor and optimize GitHub Actions runner performance; maintain runner pools across multiple scale sets, diagnose queue buildup and job failures, implement capacity improvements
  • Debug and improve ArgoCD and Codefresh pipeline reliability; trace deployment failures from CI through GitOps sync, resolve race conditions, and enhance pipeline architecture based on user patterns
  • Maintain technical runbooks and troubleshooting guides for common platform issues (policy blocks, deployment failures, secrets issues, registry access, runner problems, etc.; keep documentation current as platform evolves
  • Respond to platform support requests via the ServiceNow queue - troubleshoot deployment failures, authentication issues, policy blocks, platform access issues, and user environment misconfigurations, escalating complex issues appropriately
  • Collaborate with application teams, security/policy owners, and cluster operations on cross- cutting platform concerns
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis when critical platform issues impact multiple users; follow established operational procedures

AIAssisted & Agentic Engineering

  • This role requires comfort working alongside AIpowered tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment, validation, and accountability for outcomes; engineers are expected to contribute to the adoption and continuous improvement of AIenabled workflows by providing feedback and identifying new opportunities for automation.
  • Engineers are expected to actively use approved AI tools and agents to assist with
platform operations, troubleshooting, automation, and documentation under established governance and best practices, as part of their daytoday work
  • Engineers will create and maintain AI skills that abstract the consumption of the WWT Prototype customer base, allowing them to agentically interact with the platform
