What is a remote python job?

Remote jobs that use Python focus on coding software and applications to meet the needs or business objectives of your employer. This may involve working with a database, customizing an existing application, or otherwise modifying software based on its expected environment. You can also find a few remote roles that allow you to teach Python instead of using it. Many remote jobs that use Python also involve coding in other common languages as necessary—Python may be the bulk of the work, but the ability to switch to other modes of programming as needed is essential for success in this field. As a remote employee or independent contractor, you may use virtual office software to coordinate with others, upload software into a central database for testing, or work odd hours to meet the needs of your client.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote python developer?

To thrive as a Remote Python Developer, you need strong programming skills in Python, experience with software development life cycles, and a relevant degree or professional experience. Familiarity with tools like Git, Docker, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and frameworks such as Django or Flask is typically required, along with knowledge of remote collaboration tools like Slack and Jira. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote team integration and project delivery. These skills ensure efficient, high-quality code development, seamless teamwork, and the ability to meet project goals independently in a remote environment.

How do remote python developers typically collaborate and communicate with their teams?

Remote Python Developers often work closely with distributed teams using collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and GitHub. Clear communication and regular check-ins are essential for syncing on project requirements, code reviews, and troubleshooting. Developers are encouraged to document their code thoroughly and proactively update their progress to ensure smooth workflow across different time zones. This environment fosters independence and strong written communication skills, while also providing opportunities to participate in virtual standups, sprint planning, and peer programming sessions.

Job description

Senior Technical Advisor - Strategic Supply Chain Risk & Warfighting Technology

Location: United States, Remote Eligible with a strong preference for those local to Washington, DC or Huntsville, AL for a hybrid working model

Work Environment: Remote or Hybrid if within commutable distance

Role Summary:

The Senior Technical Advisor, Strategic Supply Chain Risk & Warfighting Technology, provides expert operational and technical guidance to support the identification, assessment, and validation of mitigation strategies for risks across defense sustainment and modernization supply chains. Operating at the intersection of industrial base analysis, manufacturing science, operational planning, and Department of War-level acquisition and authorities, this role ensures that proposed mitigations are technically feasible, industrially realistic, and executable under U.S. Government authorities spanning the Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as joint and interagency frameworks.

The Technical Advisor serves as the primary technical interface with government customers, owning day-to-day engagement on mitigation strategy design, validation, and execution. This role routinely engages senior civilian and uniformed leaders at the Department of War and Service headquarters level, translating analytical outputs into decision-grade recommendations aligned with strategic priorities, operational risk tolerance, and authorities to act. This position serves as a senior advisor to AI solution engineers and software developers building automated supply chain risk management (SCRM) capabilities. The advisor is also a key member of the Exiger Delivery team, coaching government stakeholders on mitigation strategies that align with strategic technology priorities, operational requirements, and real-world industrial constraints.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for government customers, leading discussions on supply chain risk findings, mitigation options, and execution pathways.
  • Engage regularly with executive-level stakeholders at the Department of War and Service headquarters, including senior acquisition, sustainment, logistics, and operational leaders.
  • Present complex technical, industrial, and analytical findings in a clear, authoritative manner suitable for executive decision-making, including briefings, read-aheads, and formal recommendations.
  • Advise and validate supply chain risk mitigations by applying expert judgment on technical feasibility, industrial base capacity, operational relevance, and legal or policy authority across Army, Navy, Air Force, and joint stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Developers to guide the design, training, and validation of automated or semi-automated SCRM and mitigation workflows.
  • Assess and propose mitigation strategies affecting strategically decisive Department of War technologies, ensuring alignment with modernization priorities, force readiness, and mission assurance.
  • Translate analytical outputs into actionable courses of action, explicitly identifying tradeoffs, timelines, authorities, and industrial constraints for senior leaders.
What You Bring:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in defense, national security, industrial base analysis, acquisition, procurement, sustainment, warfighting technology environments, or logistics with demonstrated senior advisory responsibility to DoD/DoW or Service-level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging senior leaders or executive-level decision-makers within the Department of Defense, Military Departments, or joint organizations, serving as the primary technical interface at DoW and Service headquarters to present decision-grade findings, lead executive briefings/read-aheads, and translate analytic outputs into executable mitigation pathways - backed by a practical software and data engineering background (Python, SQL, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Redshift and related data-warehouse/query tooling) that enables authoritative review and rapid validation of platform-derived recommendations.
  • Proven ability to operate as a trusted advisor, balancing technical rigor, operational realism, and strategic judgment in high-consequence environments, with hands-on experience building and maintaining production analytics and data pipelines (ETL, SQL, Python), implementing model governance and adjudication workflows, and applying modern software practices (Git, CI/CD, containerization, RESTful APIs, and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake/Redshift/AWS/Azure) to convert automated outputs into validated, executable mitigation plans for senior decision makers.
  • Experience serving as a senior customer-facing lead on complex defense, industrial base, or technology programs involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Comfort operating at the strategic-operational seam, engaging executives while remaining grounded in technical and industrial realities.
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level or higher, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance as required.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • High-performance culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence.
  • Competitive base salary
  • Additional performance incentives (SPIFFS, recognition awards)
  • Private medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Purposeful career development programs with reimbursement for educational certifications
  • Industry-leading health, vision, and dental benefits
  • Discretionary Time Off for all employees, with no maximum limits
  • A collaborative culture that celebrates hustle, heart, and high performance
