Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the design and hands-on implementation of Gen AI Chat bots that enables Optum to deliver self-service voice bot solutions

  • Leverage AI assisted tools for design, implementation, code reviews, and testing 

  • Lead the creation of comprehensive design documentation and architectural diagrams to clearly communicate system structure, data flow, and integration points across teams and stakeholders

  • Architect and maintain robust backend services using Python and Java frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Spring Boot), with a solid emphasis on security, performance, and observability

  • Containerize AI/ML projects and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions

  • Collaborating with Tech Leaders, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and SMEs to translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions

  • Take ownership of complex issues across the stack, driving resolution through root cause analysis and cross-functional collaboration

  • Stay ahead and drive innovation on emerging Gen AI technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to inform solution design and strategic direction

  • Lead incident response and production support efforts, including real-time debugging, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation planning

  • Troubleshooting skills to triage production issues and do root cause analysis

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and business teams

  • Ability to work and collaborate with teammates as well as other teams across the larger org and globally

  • Eagerness to learn new applications and tools

  • Capability to understand and learn without much external help

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • 4 years of software experience, with 2 years in Gen AI engineering and framework

  • 3 years of experience in operations/production support role
  • 3 years of experience using these or similar tools: (Service Now, Splunk, and Datadog)
  • 2 years of experience in DevOps and CI/CD using GitHub Actions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good Command on Prompt Engineering
  • Solid understanding of microservices, service-oriented architecture, and API gateway patterns. Experience with performance improvement strategies, caching, threading, parallel processing
  • Experience in building LLM based Gen AI applications, AI agents or copilots using frameworks like AWS SDK and OpenAI SDK
  • Expertise in backend development using Python or Java, including frameworks like FastAPI, Spring Boot
  • Experience with the challenges of delivering and monitoring LLM based cloud systems into production

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
