What are Remote Python jobs?

Remote Python jobs are positions where you work primarily with the Python programming language but do so from a location outside of a traditional office, such as your home or another remote location. These jobs can include roles like software developer, data analyst, backend engineer, or machine learning engineer, all of which use Python for building applications, analyzing data, or automating tasks. Remote Python jobs are popular due to Python's versatility and the growing demand for flexible work arrangements in the tech industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Python Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Python Developer, you need strong programming skills in Python, experience with software development life cycles, and a relevant degree or professional experience. Familiarity with tools like Git, Docker, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and frameworks such as Django or Flask is typically required, along with knowledge of remote collaboration tools like Slack and Jira. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote team integration and project delivery. These skills ensure efficient, high-quality code development, seamless teamwork, and the ability to meet project goals independently in a remote environment.

What Are Remote Jobs That Use Python?

Remote jobs that use Python focus on coding software and applications to meet the needs or business objectives of your employer. This may involve working with a database, customizing an existing application, or otherwise modifying software based on its expected environment. You can also find a few remote roles that allow you to teach Python instead of using it. Many remote jobs that use Python also involve coding in other common languages as necessary—Python may be the bulk of the work, but the ability to switch to other modes of programming as needed is essential for success in this field. As a remote employee or independent contractor, you may use virtual office software to coordinate with others, upload software into a central database for testing, or work odd hours to meet the needs of your client.

What is the difference between Remote Python vs Remote Data Analyst?

AspectRemote PythonRemote Data Analyst
Required SkillsPython programming, scripting, libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy)Data analysis, SQL, Excel, visualization tools
CertificationsPython certifications, data science coursesData analysis certifications, SQL certifications
Work EnvironmentRemote, tech companies, startupsRemote, finance, marketing, consulting firms
Industry UsageSoftware development, automation, backend servicesBusiness intelligence, market research, reporting

Remote Python roles focus on coding, automation, and software development using Python, while Remote Data Analysts analyze data sets to generate insights. Both roles often work remotely and require analytical skills, but their core responsibilities and tools differ significantly.

How do Remote Python Developers typically collaborate and communicate with their teams?

Remote Python Developers often work closely with distributed teams using collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and GitHub. Clear communication and regular check-ins are essential for syncing on project requirements, code reviews, and troubleshooting. Developers are encouraged to document their code thoroughly and proactively update their progress to ensure smooth workflow across different time zones. This environment fosters independence and strong written communication skills, while also providing opportunities to participate in virtual standups, sprint planning, and peer programming sessions.

Job description

Salary: $140,000 to $160,000

Join Simbex as a Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Services and help build and modernize the backend systems behind our connected-device and sensor-analytics platforms. Our work lives where hardware meets software in demanding, real-world settings including connected safety and sports-performance products where device datahas tobe captured reliably and turned into trustworthy insight. You will own significant parts of a cloud platform that ingests real-time device data, exposes it through well-designed APIs, and supports the analytics products our customers depend on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead designand evolution of the backend services and REST APIs that ingest, route, and serve device sensor data, balancing day-to-day delivery with long-term platform health
  • Build and operate serverless services on AWS: primarily Lambda, API Gateway, and managed databases for scalable, cost-efficient cloud workloads
  • Help modernize the platform toward event-driven patterns, introducing asynchronous messaging and streaming (e.g., SQS/SNS, Kinesis, or Kafka) where they improve reliability and scale
  • Design andoptimizerelational databases (PostgreSQL on RDS) for high-throughput sensor data storage and demanding query workloads, applying solid schema design, indexing, and performance tuning
  • Define andmaintainclear API contracts between internal services, device clients, and external platform consumers
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices across APIs and cloud services (OAuth 2.0, API Gateway, IAM)
  • Instrument services with structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing to support observability and proactive incident response
  • Drive engineering maturity: CI/CD, automated testing, and code-quality standards. Lead design reviews as part of the team's formal review process
  • Write clean, modular, well-tested code (unit, integration, and contract tests) and set the standard for quality across the codebase
  • Collaborate with firmware, algorithm, and data teams to align on device communication protocols, data contracts, and platform SLAs, working within an Agile/SAFedelivery model
  • Mentor engineers and help shape the technical direction, standards, and best practices of the platform

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional backend or cloud software engineering experience, including time in a senior or technical-lead capacity
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience
  • Strongproficiencyin Node.js/TypeScript and Python for building production backend services
  • Hands-on experience with core AWS services: Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, and SQS/SNS
  • Experience designing and operating serverless or service-oriented architectures in production
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles, versioning, and contract-first development
  • Strong relational database skills (PostgreSQL or similar) schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design, mentor engineers, and drive decisions across cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, orSAFe)

Preferred

  • Experience with IoT connectivity protocols: MQTT, AMQP, or AWS IoT Core
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling: Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation
  • Experience introducing event-driven or streaming architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar) into an existing platform
  • Familiarity with observability platforms:OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch
  • Experience with API contract testing frameworks such as Pact or similar
  • Background in connected devices, wearables, sensor-data platforms, or other high-reliability or regulated domains
