Job description

The Opportunity
This is your opportunity to build and lead a high-performing engineering team that is at the forefront of revolutionizing healthcare technology. You will directly contribute to Pearl Health's mission by developing data-driven, scalable platforms that enhance patient care and create critical efficiencies for physicians. If you are a leader with the vision to inspire a team and the technical expertise to drive complex projects, this role offers a clear path to making a tangible impact on our healthcare system.
Who We Are
Pearl Health is dedicated to empowering primary care providers, health systems, and physician-led networks to succeed in the shift to value-based care. Our platform delivers the technology, financial tools, and expert services that enable practices to provide more proactive, effective care to their Medicare patients, ultimately lowering costs and improving health outcomes.
Founded in 2020, we are a team of healthcare and technology innovators backed by premier investors like Andreessen Horowitz, Viking Global Investors, and AlleyCorp. We partner with thousands of providers across 44 states to build a more sustainable future for American healthcare.
What You'll Do
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be a true owner of your team's outcomes, guiding them in developing transformative, data-driven solutions. You will balance day-to-day execution with long-term strategy, ensuring your team's efforts align with Pearl's strategic goals.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team by recruiting, mentoring, and retaining exceptional engineering talent.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development through coaching and new opportunities.
  • Set and enforce high standards for code quality, architecture, and process rigor, while balancing technical tradeoffs and speed to deliver results.
  • Own your team's commitments to deliver high-quality, robust, and scalable systems on time.
  • Partner with Product, UX, and cross-functional stakeholders to define and deliver bold, scalable solutions.
  • Engage deeply with the technical details of your team's work to ensure sound decision-making and foster a "Bias for Action" to resolve blockers.
  • Champion privacy and security, ensuring your team delivers solutions that comply with healthcare regulations like HIPAA and HITRUST.
  • Communicate clearly with all stakeholders , aligning teams and modeling the "Disagree and Commit" principle when navigating conflicting priorities,
What You'll Bring
We are looking for an experienced leader who blends deep technical expertise with a proven ability to build and inspire high-performing teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about our mission and thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Must-haves:
  • 4+ years of experience managing diverse teams of engineers across junior and senior levels.
  • A proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on, full-stack engineering experience building customer-facing web applications.
  • Deep experience with highly data-driven systems , including proficiency in API development and modern frameworks.
  • A proven track record for solving complex problems that deliver tangible value to customers.
  • Experience working in close partnership with Product Management, User Experience (UX), and other stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and leveraging varied perspectives to build stronger solutions.

Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience with Python and React.
  • Experience integrating emerging technologies like machine learning and natural language processing.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, insurance, or financial technology (Fintech) ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with operating in highly regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST) and ensuring the safety of customer data.

This role might not be for you if...
  • You prefer a highly structured, top-down environment with a slow, deliberate pace.
  • You prefer to manage from a high level and are not interested in engaging with the technical details of your team's work.
  • You are uncomfortable navigating ambiguity or balancing conflicting priorities.
  • You are looking for a role that does not require balancing the need for speed with high standards for code quality and architecture.
  • You thrive in a traditional, co-located office environment and are not set up for success in a remote-first company.
