The Opportunity

As a dedicated Investment Operations Analyst (Intermediate), you will work within established guidelines and frameworks to support high-quality investment research for new securities purchased for the organization's institutional portfolios. You will analyze securities using the Bloomberg Terminal, collaborate with USAA Traders, Strategists, and Reporting Analysts, and consult additional market data sources to conduct thorough security research. You will also be responsible for maintaining security records within order management, accounting, and data warehouse systems, as well as conducting initial post-trade compliance testing.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, or Charlotte, NC.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for valuing routine new securities and completing securities transactions data entry (sector, security type, collateral type, issuer, obligor, sponsor, guarantor). Seeks guidance for more complex security setups.

  • Corrects security master data when errors are reported.

  • Diagnoses and investigates system and data problems and determines root cause of errors. Works with peers to resolve.

  • Corrects trade data problems and/or notifies Compliance, traders and portfolio managers of any compliance violations.

  • Acquires and applies maturing knowledge of the investment business, products, and processes to better assist senior peers with ad hoc tasks.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of team initiatives as a team resource.

  • Resolve issues and identify appropriate issues for escalation.

  • Performs more remedial tasks such as doing simple quality checks or staging work for analysis.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.


What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.

  • 2 years of experience in investment operations or middle office functions or financial services industry.

  • Foundational level of experience in the investment management industry.

  • Knowledge of investment control testing or audits.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word and Outlook.

What sets you apart:

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand financial concepts, with a specific emphasis on bond pricing and general bond mathematics.

  • Familiarity with data and automation tools such as SQL, Python, VBA, and Power BI.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience assisting with control testing and audits and identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $63,590 - $121,530.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
