Job description

Description

As a Substation Engineer at CDG Engineers, you will be responsible for designing and implementing critical electrical infrastructure projects. You will leverage your technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges related to transmission and distribution systems. Your work will involve a wide range of tasks, including physical design for new substations and substation expansions. Your ability to innovate, learn new technologies, and collaborate effectively will be essential to your success in this role. The salary range for this role is $100K-$140K annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role. This is a remote optional role; or can be hybrid if preferred at our St. Louis, MO headquarters office.

Requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years relevant experience (10+ years required for Senior level)
  • PE license (or ability to obtain PE license in MO)
  • Experience designing substations ย ranging from 12kV through 500kV.ย 
  • Working knowledge of substation layouts, equipment arrangements, grounding, lightning protection, and control house design.ย 
  • Experience preparing and reviewing drawings, equipment plans, etc.ย 
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.ย 
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards, including:ย 
    • NESCย 
    • IEEEย 
    • ANSIย 
    • Utility-specific design standardsย 
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary engineering teams.ย 
  • Familiarity with protection and control design interfaces.
