Role
As a Full-stack Software Engineer at our company, you will be responsible for designing and implementing application features and APIs for the most visible aspect of Yotascale's product. In this role, you will be at the intersection of several white-hot areas in today's technical landscape: Containers, Kubernetes, Cloud and Big Data and you will have the opportunity to help us deliver our product to some of the most technically sophisticated customers in the world.
The Application Engineering team's mission is to build an amazing product that delights our customers. This work will have a disproportionate impact and will directly influence Yotascale's success as a company. The team charter is (1) design and implement application features and APIs that enable the most visible aspect of Yotascale's product; (2) contribute to each step of the product development process, from ideation to implementation to release, including rapidly prototyping, developing, and pushing code into production; (3) partner with a cross-functional team of designers and product managers to plan, architect, build, and deploy complex user-facing features.
Responsibilities
  • Proactively work closely with Product Managers and Engineering Teams to develop new features throughout the platform, maintain and enhance existing functionality.
  • Participate in end-to-end architecture reviews and discussions with the broader team, playing an influential role in overall in engineering and product design
  • Build clean, performant APIs to power compelling, usable data visualizations; contribute to their design; and engineer them in React, Python and/or Scala
  • Own meaningful parts of our service, have a direct impact, grow with the company
  • Set and maintain a high-quality bar in architecture, application stability and performance, and code hygiene

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience building rich web-based applications
  • Experience of building web applications using modern frameworks (React, Angular, Backbone, or similar)
  • Experience with Ajax and working with RESTful APIs
  • Experience of building web applications using Python, Java or Scala
  • Solid CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)
  • Strong understanding of SQL and experience with at least one DBMS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, in Computer Science or related field
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience of building web applications using either Python Flask or Django framework
  • Knowledge of Typescript, ES6, ES7 and above
  • A good eye for visual design
  • AWS experience is a big plus
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS
