About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Reviewer to join our growing team. This role serves as the final quality-control reviewer for tax engagements, with responsibility for reviewing, approving, and signing off on returns before delivery to clients and filing with taxing authorities.
The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with strong technical expertise, tax planning experience, and the ability to provide guidance on complex tax matters. This individual will serve as a trusted resource for staff, support client consultations, and help identify opportunities that add value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform final reviews of individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Exercise final sign-off authority on tax returns prior to client delivery and filing.
• Identify tax planning opportunities, compliance risks, and technical issues during the review process.
• Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for staff on complex tax matters.
• Research and interpret federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Participate in consultations with existing and prospective clients to discuss tax needs, planning opportunities, and service solutions.
• Mentor and support tax preparers and junior team members.
• Assist with IRS and state tax notices, audits, and other tax authority inquiries.
• Stay current on tax law changes, regulatory updates, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
• Active CPA license required.
• 7+ years of tax review experience in a public accounting environment.
• Experience serving in a final-review and sign-off capacity.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and multi-state tax compliance.
• Experience reviewing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and related returns.
• Demonstrated tax planning experience for individuals and businesses.
• Experience conducting client consultations and discussing tax strategies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with tax software such as CCH, UltraTax, ProSeries, or similar platforms.
