Day in the Life

As a Cultural Resources Project Manager, your day may begin with coordinating field survey logistics, followed by reviewing archaeological findings or preparing technical reports. You'll collaborate with clients, agencies, and Tribal representatives, mentor team members, and guide projects from proposal through completion. Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology, history, or related field
  • Minimum 6 years of archaeology experience (field surveys, reports, and agency coordination)
  • At least 2 years in environmental consulting or agency settings
  • Strong knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and Section 106 compliance
  • Experience with northern and central California prehistoric and historic archaeology
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) or ability to obtain

Preferred QualificationsIdeal Cultural Resources Project Manager candidates also have:

  • Specialized analytical skills (e.g., geoarchaeology, lithics, ceramics)
  • GPS and field data collection experience
  • Experience coordinating with agencies and Native American groups
  • Established client relationships
