What is a remote project architect?

A Remote Project Architect is a licensed architect who plans, designs, and oversees building projects while working from a location outside the traditional office, often from home. They collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors using digital tools and software to manage projects remotely. Their responsibilities include creating architectural drawings, ensuring code compliance, and coordinating all phases of the design and construction process. Remote Project Architects must have strong communication skills and be adept at using collaboration platforms to keep projects on track. This role offers flexibility but also requires a high level of organization and self-motivation.

How does a remote project architect effectively coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams across different locations?

As a Remote Project Architect, communication and collaboration are central to success. You'll frequently use digital tools like BIM platforms, video conferencing, and project management software to keep all stakeholders aligned and projects moving forward. Regular virtual meetings, clear documentation, and proactive updates help bridge geographic gaps and ensure design intent is maintained. Being proactive about time zone differences and fostering a culture of transparency are key strategies for building strong working relationships remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote project architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Project Architect, you need a professional degree in architecture, architectural licensure, and solid experience in design development and project management. Proficiency with BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and collaboration platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams is typically required. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and organizational skills help you coordinate with distributed teams and clients. These capabilities ensure projects are delivered effectively, on time, and within budget, even when working remotely.

About the Role

We are looking for an Amazon Certified Cloud Solutions Architect with deep, hands-on experience in containerization technologies to design, implement, and scale modern cloud-native solutions on AWS.

This role is ideal for architects who enjoy building and experimenting, delivering proofs of concept (POCs), and translating ideas into scalable, production-ready architectures. You will work across a variety of environments, including innovation initiatives, startup customers, and cloud modernization programs.

  • Build and deliver POCs, pilots, and MVPs with rapid turnaround
  • Design microservices-based architectures
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and product teams
  • Ensure solutions meet security, scalability, and performance best practices
  • Document architectures, patterns, and operational guidelines
  • Advise customers on cloud strategy, cost optimization, and best practices

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Amazon EKS in production environments
  • Knowledge of service meshes, observability, and logging stacks
  • Experience supporting startup or innovation teams
  • Exposure to AI/ML or GenAI workloads running in containers
  • Familiarity with GitOps and modern DevOps practices

Why Join Us

  • Work on modern, cloud-native architectures
  • High-impact, hands-on role (not just diagrams)
  • Exposure to diverse projects across industries
  • Opportunity to influence early technical decisions
  • Flexible engagement models and strong growth opportunities

Who Should Apply

This role is ideal for:

  • AWS Solutions Architects passionate about containers and microservices
  • Cloud engineers ready to step into an architecture-focused role
  • Architects who enjoy POCs, innovation, and fast execution
  • Professionals looking to work across multiple cloud initiatives
