About the Job:

The System Design Engineer is responsible for creating and validating high-performance AVL system designs that are thoroughly validated, reliable, ensuring seamless integration, long-term scalability, and alignment with project goals and industry best practices. The System Design Engineer transforms the high-level AVL system design provided by the Solution Architect team into accurate, detailed construction and system documentation. These designs are crafted to facilitate smooth construction by other trades and effective installation of AVL systems by Summit teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates detailed AVL system designs for construction and installation using industry-standard CAD platforms that align with customer vision, are innovative in nature, and are efficient in implementation.
  • Engineer AVL system designs by validating system design concepts, employing both industry best practices and real-world application insights to ensure solutions are functional, technically sound, reliable, and optimized for long-term performance and scalability.
  • Creates design documentation, including layouts, elevations, schematics, wiring diagrams, details, custom plate designs, and other necessary documents. Generates installation documentation, including schematics, schedules, and wire pull sheets.
  • Verifies system design details with the client's vendors (e.g., architects, engineers), covering aspects such as power, weight, heat loads, elevations, layouts, and infrastructure to confirm the accuracy of project scope, proposals, and parts lists.
  • Reviews system designs before sending them to internal Summit teams to ensure accuracy, confirm functionality, and validate that the design aligns with customer requirements.
  • Produces 3D models and performs 3D clash analysis to ensure all technical and construction elements are coordinated. Produce loudspeaker and acoustic models for design collaboration with the solution architect. Produce 3D renderings for use in sales environments and customer reviews.
  • Responsible for the startup, implementation, and commissioning of equipment to the manufacturer's specifications & system function expectations at the Summit HQ and on project sites as determined by project needs.
  • Provide technical remote support for projects through first use and for the first 30 days after project completion. Assists the Support team as a resource and technical expert for customers' warranty ongoing and occasional weekend coverage.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in an AVL technical role, ideally within the House of Worship AVL industry. Experience in system implementation & operation.
  • Technical Experience with industry-standard tools for designing and configuring AVL systems.
  • Advanced ability with CAD/Vector based software platforms such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and/or Revit to produce detailed system design plans.
  • Preferred: Video specialization

Work Location: Remote in the Phoenix, Arizona area with occasional travel to our headquarters in Louisville, Colorado.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary:
Starting at $63,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year, based on experience
