SUMMARY
The Associate General Counsel is a senior member of the Legal team and a trusted strategic advisor to leaders across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel, this role provides practical, business-oriented legal counsel across a broad range of matters, with particular focus on commercial transactions, SaaS and technology agreements, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate combines strong legal judgment and technical expertise with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented technology environment.
LOCATION
100% Remote - Anywhere within the US
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the bar of at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 8-10+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, with significant in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional legal judgment with the ability to assess risk and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial and technology transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of SaaS, software licensing and other commercial agreements, data privacy, and data security as it arises in commercial transactions.
  • Experience as a trusted legal advisor on commercial transactions to leadership and cross-functional business partners, providing strategic, practical, and commercially focused counsel.
  • Experience providing counsel on customer disputes and collection matters, including management of outside counsel when appropriate.
  • Ability to research and monitor current federal and state law affecting commercial transactions, and translate developments into actionable guidance for the business
  • Experience with developing and improving templates, playbooks, and contracting practices to increase efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple matters simultaneously with a high degree of independence and urgency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance.Solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on enabling the business while appropriately managing risk.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Experience in the payment processing industry is a plus.
  • Experience with Ironclad or a comparable contract lifecycle management platform is a plus.
  • Experience with agreements supporting public and private K-12 schools is a plus.
