Duties
Help

• You will inspect work to incur conformance to nuclear reactor plant specification prior to submitting that work for formal inspection.
• You will produce a very high quality weld on a continuing basis which must pass very high x-ray standards and specifications.
• You will direct helpers, apprentices, and fire watchers.
• You will observe safety rules and regulations of the activity.
• You will perform welding operations primarily on nuclear and non-nuclear piping and pressure vessels.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
• This is a bargaining unit position.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION:
*Coordinating movement of equipment and accomplishing the set up and adjustment of welding related machines and equipment to obtain the necessary varying settings of parity, amperage, voltage, gas, or flux flow.
*Accomplishing assignments in accordance with approved welding procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, in compliance with shop practices, safety regulations, and techniques such as mirror welding.
*Operating manual and pneumatic power tools to accomplish grinding and deburring operations for the purpose of cleaning and contouring weldments.
*Setting up, maintaining, and monitoring gas purges in piping systems.
*Aligning and securing work pieces for welding using welding positioners, fixtures, and alignment jigs.
