Job description

Join UCC Environmental — Where Expertise Meets Impact

Looking for a role where your technical knowledge and business instincts drive real environmental outcomes? At UCC Environmental, you’ll join a company with more than a century of experience solving complex industrial challenges — and a growing portfolio of technologies that address the world’s most pressing water, air, and solids challenges.

We are a privately held, family-owned business supporting utility power providers and heavy industrial customers globally. Our offerings span environmental compliance, material handling, advanced wear technology, and industrial water and wastewater treatment.

Through our acquisition of H2K Technologies, UCC Environmental is positioned to offer engineered air and water treatment systems, including filtration, separation, and treatment solutions for remediation applications. The H2K product line includes systems purpose-built for the remediation market — addressing groundwater cleanup, industrial site restoration, and environmental compliance — and represents a significant growth opportunity for UCC Environmental.

Headquartered in Waukegan, Illinois, UCC Environmental owns and operates sales, manufacturing, assembly, and warehousing facilities across the United States, Canada, Germany, India, and China. If you’re looking for a place where your ideas matter, your work has purpose, and your career can grow, UCC Environmental is the right fit.

PRINCIPAL FOCUS OF THE POSITION

UCC Environmental is establishing a new H2K Remediation Market Business Development Manager role to accelerate commercial growth for the H2K product line within the environmental remediation sector. This position is being created to expand market penetration and increase adoption of H2K’s engineered water treatment and filtration solutions in technically demanding remediation applications where current market coverage is limited.

This role will serve as the primary commercial growth engine for H2K’s remediation market in the U.S., responsible for driving technical sales, developing new customer relationships, and converting identified opportunities into long-term revenue. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of the remediation market — its key players, regulatory drivers, and application requirements — with the technical fluency to position H2K solutions effectively.

This role will align under UCC Strategic Operations and work closely with:

  • UCC Water Team
  • H2K Operations and Engineering
  • UCC Field Sales (United States)

The position is intended to complement and enable existing field sales activity by increasing technical depth, consistency, and proactive market development — not to replace regional sales ownership. The H2K Remediation Market Business Development Manager will report to the Vice President of Strategic Business Development of UCC Environmental. This is an approved remote position; visits to the UCC Environmental office in Waukegan, IL and to customer/project sites are expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Expertise

Serve as an internal subject matter expert on H2K Technologies’ product portfolio and its applications within the remediation market.  This includes:

  • Providing technical guidance on water treatment unit processes relevant to remediation — including filtration, separation, ion exchange, and related technologies
  • Advising the UCC Environmental Sales and Marketing teams on technical requirements and solution selection for site-specific remediation applications
  • Reviewing proposals and technical documents for accuracy, completeness, and competitive positioning
  • Conducting site evaluations, application assessments, and treatment system optimization recommendations for target customers

Market Intelligence

Maintain a current, detailed understanding of the remediation market to identify and prioritize opportunities. This includes:

  • Tracking major remediation programs, regulatory developments (EPA, state programs, PFAS, CERCLA, RCRA, etc.), and emerging contaminants driving treatment demand
  • Maintaining awareness of key environmental consulting firms (ECFs), engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors, and remediation technology competitors
  • Identifying market segments with high H2K technology application fit — including PFAS treatment, groundwater pump-and-treat systems, industrial site remediation, and landfill leachate management
  • Developing and maintaining a North American business plan to grow H2K product portfolio adoption with new and existing customers

Networking and Commercial Development

Build and maintain a robust network of contacts across the remediation ecosystem. This includes:

  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders including environmental consultants, site owners, EPC contractors, government agencies, and project developers
  • Securing meetings and presentations to demonstrate UCC Environmental and H2K capabilities to decision-makers
  • Representing H2K and UCC Environmental at industry conferences, tradeshows, and technical forums
  • Expanding H2K sales into industrial markets where H2K solutions have demonstrated applicability, such as mining water management, metals, and other industrial wastewater markets

Commercial Execution

  • Drive technically complex opportunities from initial application identification through quotation and order conversion
  • Support pricing strategy, quoting input, and opportunity qualification for H2K-related business
  • Work directly with customers on solution design, application development, and system optimization
  • Proactively identify new H2K applications and expansion opportunities within existing UCC Environmental customer sites
  • Support and enable UCC Environmental Field Sales through technical expertise, customer presentations, and competitive positioning
  • Prioritize target applications, product enhancements, and market development initiatives
  • Contribute to strategic account planning, long-term market development, and broader UCC Environmental growth initiatives
  • Identify operational, capability, and integration gaps affecting H2K commercialization and lead cross-functional efforts to resolve them as needed
  • Demonstrate and promote UCC Environmental core values in all internal and external interactions
  • All other duties as assigned
THE INDIVIDUAL

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or related discipline) required
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or advanced technical degree preferred

Preferred Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, or application engineering within the environmental remediation or industrial water treatment sectors
  • Deep familiarity with the remediation market — including key environmental consulting firms, EPCs, regulatory frameworks, and treatment technologies
  • Experience with engineered water treatment systems (filtration, separation, groundwater treatment, or similar)
  • Demonstrated success developing new markets, customer segments, or commercial partnerships
  • Proven ability to support and enable field sales teams in a technical specialist capacity
  • Experience with PFAS treatment, pump-and-treat systems, or industrial site remediation is highly valued
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to prioritize opportunities and drive commercial outcomes

Characteristics

  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into customer value
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical and executive audiences
  • Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy

  • Ability to work at a computer sitting or standing approximately 75% of the day
  • Willingness and ability to travel >40%, commensurate with pipeline volume and customer relationship management activity
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Remediation Market Business Development Manager reports to the Vice President of Strategic Business Development at UCC Environmental.  At present, the position does not carry direct supervisory responsibilities, though this may evolve as the remediation market business scales.
