Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with 2+ years of experience in building electrical design, preferably with exposure to mission critical and data center facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering and an interest in developing expertise in complex, high-performance facilities.
AECOM is a leader in the global data center consulting industry with robust teams in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with our teams around the world on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for global clients. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with an opportunity for upward career mobility.
This position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule and can be based from a variety of locations in the US where AECOM has an office.
Although the position is primarily remote periodic travel may be required for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other business-critical activities. Travel is expected to be occasional and scheduled in advance
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the design of electrical systems for mission critical and data center facilities, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, emergency power, lighting, grounding, and life safety systems.
  • Perform electrical calculations and assist with equipment sizing, load calculations, and other engineering analyses.
  • Develop electrical plans, one-line diagrams, schedules, details, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Apply applicable codes and standards, including the NEC, to electrical design and documentation.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, and other disciplines.
  • Support senior engineers in resolving technical and construction-related issues.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop knowledge of data center electrical systems, including reliability, redundancy, and maintainability requirements.
  • Continue developing technical and professional skills through project experience, mentoring, and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with 2 years of building MEP electrical design experience.
  • Experience with Revit and ACC preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical power systems and engineering calculations; experience with SKM or ETAP is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and familiarity with applicable building codes, including IBC and IECC.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and develop technical skills under the guidance of senior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • EIT certification or progress toward obtaining a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Experience or exposure to mission critical, data center, healthcare, or other complex building projects.
  • Familiarity with data center electrical systems, reliability, redundancy, and maintainability concepts.
  • Interest in developing expertise in mission critical and hyperscale data center design and industry standards.
