JOB SUMMARY


The Senior DevOps Engineer supports cloud-based software applications, works on network setup, supporting services, and hosting platforms. The Senior DevOps Engineer focuses on application life cycle management tools and processes and assists with process workflows and improvements with system engineers, software engineers, security analysts, and technical architects. This position is also responsible for environment and release management and focuses on continuously improving the quality, reliability, scalability and speed to market of the supported software.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serve as the key contact for assigned applications and troubleshoot or escalate complex system problems in partnership with the use/client community, internal, and vendor IT staff.
Deploy, manage, automate and scale cloud technical computing services to support product development teams.
Build automation tools to support the software development and infrastructure operations teams.
Work with technical teams to resolve issues, install, and test upgrades and customizations.
Monitor assigned systems and applications performance to maintain agreed performance metrics. Alert as needed and take proactive steps to improve performance when necessary. Escalate issues to management.
Participates and lead technical on-call services as needed to ensure timely and high-quality incident resolution.
Use continuous deployment tools to provide a seamless deployment process to all environments.
Define changes to the application environments in cloud platforms and guide the Associate Engineers in the setup/changes and implementation of new technology solutions.
Lead documentation of application systems, process flows, and support processes.
Lead meetings to review processes and identify requirements and/or needs.
Mentor peers for engineering best practices and technical excellence
Define needs by documenting processes; includes research, planning and writing supporting documentation.
Communicate effectively with management to enhance their understanding of the opportunities and limitations of information systems.
Recommends new technologies, approaches, and best practices to solve problems or alleviate pain points.
Reduce developer friction for bring products to production

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience; or Associate's degree with work experience in a related field
5+ years of DevOps or similar work experience required.
Knowledge of all aspects of application development and project life cycles design and development experience with engineering software design tools
Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
Extensive understanding of software development approaches and best practices
Extensive DevOps experience with a cloud-native web application hosted in one of the three major cloud platforms
Familiarity with version control systems e.g., Git, SVN, CVS
Extensive database and operating systems experience
Experience in designing and implementing a continuous integration pipeline (CI/CD) including Infrastructure as code
Experience in setting up and managing a Web Application Firewall
Experience with containerization, microservices, orchestration, monitoring, and alerting solutions
Microsoft Azure experience
Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in an agile development environment
Familiarity with product planning, business cases, and return on investment concepts
