What is a Remote Part Time Therapist?

A Remote Part Time Therapist is a licensed mental health professional who provides therapy services to clients via online platforms, rather than in-person sessions. They typically work part-time hours, offering flexibility to both the therapist and their clients. Remote therapists use video calls, phone calls, or secure messaging to conduct sessions, helping clients with issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and more. This role is ideal for professionals seeking a flexible schedule and the ability to work from home, while still making a meaningful impact in clients' lives.

How do remote part-time therapists typically manage client confidentiality and privacy when working from home?

Remote part-time therapists are expected to uphold the same standards of confidentiality as in-person practitioners. This often means using secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms for video sessions, storing client records in encrypted digital formats, and ensuring their work environment is private and free from interruptions. Therapists may also need to establish clear communication guidelines with clients regarding emergency protocols and boundaries. Employers often provide training on best practices, but therapists should also proactively stay updated on telehealth privacy requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Part Time Therapist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Part Time Therapist, you need a master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work, along with state licensure to practice therapy. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, secure video conferencing tools, and electronic health record (EHR) systems is crucial. Excellent communication, empathy, and self-motivation help therapists build trust and manage client relationships in a virtual environment. These competencies ensure effective client care, confidentiality, and therapeutic rapport while working remotely and part-time.

Job description

LICENSED THERAPIST: PART-TIME WEEKEND & IN-OFFICE ROLE
(Friday + Weekend Availability Required)
Location: Westmont, IL (Hybrid) | Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Thoughtful, relationship-centered outpatient therapy for clinicians who value meaningful clinical work, clear systems, and expanded access to care.

You Care About Doing Thoughtful Therapy. So Do We.

At Elevate Counseling + Wellness, we've built a group practice where clinicians can focus on meaningful clinical work within a calm, well-structured environment. We believe strong therapy happens when clinicians feel supported, expectations are clear, and collaboration is part of everyday practice.

We are currently seeing a growing need for clients seeking in-office therapy outside of traditional weekday hours, especially on Fridays, evenings, and weekends. This role is designed for a clinician who values thoughtful therapy and is interested in helping expand access for clients whose schedules require more flexibility.

Our culture prioritizes professionalism, relationship-centered care, and sustainable clinical work. We aim to create a place where therapists can grow their skills, maintain high standards of care, and build long-term careers without operating in constant urgency.

Elevate is a place for clinicians who value steady, meaningful work, thoughtful colleagues, and systems that allow them to focus on their clients.
What It's Like to Work Here
Our practice is intentionally designed to support both clinicians and clients. At Elevate, you can expect:

  • A steady pace of clinical work rather than urgency-driven scheduling
  • Clear expectations around documentation, boundaries, and professional standards
  • Collaboration across clinicians, leadership, and administrative staff
  • Opportunities for supervision, consultation, and professional development
  • Respect for each therapist's clinical style within shared practice values

We work intentionally to create a psychologically safe, respectful environment where clinicians can ask questions, refine their clinical voice, and feel supported in their professional growth.

You'll Likely Thrive Here If You

  • Value strong therapeutic relationships and ethical care
  • Communicate clearly and work well within a team
  • Appreciate structure while maintaining professional autonomy
  • Are reflective, grounded, and committed to continued growth
  • Enjoy working with clients in person
  • Are open to a consistent schedule that includes Friday, weekend, and evening availability
  • Want to help clients access therapy at times that better fit real-life work, school, family, and caregiving demands

We welcome clinicians from diverse backgrounds, identities, and theoretical orientations and are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.
Role Summary: Part-Time Weekend & In-Office Therapist
This role is designed for therapists who provide thoughtful, relationship-centered outpatient psychotherapy and are available to support clients needing in-office, weekend, and evening appointment options.

This position begins as part-time, with the opportunity to grow toward full-time over time if desired. Clinicians who build to full-time may become eligible for full-time staff benefits in accordance with Elevate's benefits structure.

This role may be a strong fit for a clinician who wants a focused part-time schedule, is interested in building a meaningful caseload, and appreciates the ability to grow within an established group practice environment.

What This Role Involves

  • Providing outpatient psychotherapy with adults, couples, families, teens, or other populations within your scope of practice
  • Building and maintaining a consistent part-time caseload
  • Holding a weekly schedule that includes required in-office Friday and weekend availability
  • Providing one remote evening shift per week
  • Participating in consultation and professional dialogue with colleagues
  • Practicing thoughtful case conceptualization and scope management
  • Maintaining reliable documentation and follow-through

Clinical Workload Expectations
To support access to care and consistency for our clients, Elevate maintains clear, practice-wide workload standards:

  • Part-time therapists: a rolling average of 16 client sessions per week
    • Full-time therapists: a rolling average of 22 client sessions per week

This role begins as part-time. Therapists interested in growing their caseload may have the opportunity to build toward full-time based on clinical fit, schedule availability, and practice needs. Our administrative systems and intake processes are designed to help clinicians maintain sustainable, consistent caseloads.

Schedule & Presence
This role follows a hybrid schedule model with specific availability requirements designed to support current client needs. Required weekly availability includes:

  • Fridays in-office
  • Either Saturdays or Sundays in-office
  • One remote evening shift per week, on the weekday evening of the therapist's choice

Additional weekday, evening, or telehealth availability may be added based on therapist preference, clinical fit, and practice needs. These expectations support expanded access to care for clients who are unable to attend therapy during standard weekday business hours.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
  • Active Illinois clinical license or license eligibility, such as LPC/LCPC, LSW/LCSW, MFT/LMFT, PsyD/PhD
  • Experience providing psychotherapy in a clinical agency, group practice, private practice, hospital, or community mental health setting
  • Comfort using telehealth platforms and electronic health records
  • Ability to provide in-office therapy on Fridays and either Saturdays or Sundays
  • Ability to provide one remote evening shift per week

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Administrative and billing support
  • Centralized intake support
  • Consultation and professional development opportunities
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off, adjusted based on caseload and role structure
  • CEU support, with partial CEU support available for part-time clinicians meeting caseload expectations

Full-time staff benefits may be available for clinicians who grow into a full-time role, in accordance with Elevate's benefits structure.

Our Hiring Approach
We hire intentionally. Our interview process focuses on role fit, clinical judgment, schedule alignment, and connection with our practice values.

We aim to be transparent about expectations early so clinicians can thoughtfully assess whether Elevate offers the kind of environment where they can do their best work.

How to Apply
If this environment and approach to clinical work resonate with you, we'd love to hear from you.

We look forward to learning how your experience, availability, and clinical perspective could contribute to Elevate Counseling + Wellness.
