Job description

Position Overview:

We are searching for a highly organized and proactive Paralegal to provide substantive legal and administrative support to multiple attorneys handling family law matters, including divorce, custody, child support, and mediation cases. The Paralegal will also be corresponding directly with clients, so superior client experience skills and compassion are required. This is a full-time, remote position requiring strong self-management and dependable communication skills, and consistent production of 100 billable hours per month.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $65,000


Responsibilities:
  • Draft, proofread, and format legal documents including pleadings, financial statements, discovery requests and responses, and separation agreements

  •  Prepare and organize electronic case files in the firm’s case management software

  • Prepare and organize trial exhibit binders

  • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, provide case status updates, and coordinate scheduling

  • Track deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements using the firm's calendar software

  • Prepare discovery responses and assist with document production

  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous time entries to meet and exceed the monthly billable hour requirement

  • Coordinate with opposing counsel, courts, and third parties on scheduling and document exchange

  • Support mediation sessions with document preparation and follow-up correspondence

  • Participate in case meetings

  • Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys and the Case Manager


Qualifications:

Required

  • Paralegal certificate or associate/bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, or equivalent relevant experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining consistent availability during business hours

  • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential client information

Preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in a family law or litigation practice preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of Massachusetts family law procedures and court filing requirements

  • Familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., Clio)

Work Environment & Expectations

  • This is a fully remote position requiring a reliable internet connection and a private, distraction-free workspace

  • 40 hours per week; office hours are 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM on weekdays

  • Employees are expected to bill a minimum of 100 hours per month; non-billable administrative hours are in addition to this requirement
